This is a must visit if you are a chocolate fiend. The place itself is a quirky higgledepiggledy café over 2 floors with mismatched chairs and sofas along with bookcases lining the walls. A few people seemed to be using it to study so it had a very relaxed atmosphere. You order at the till from a menu mainly consisting of chocolate but they bring the food and drinks directly to your table. There is a lot of hot chocolate to choose from but we opted for the white hot chocolate and an hot organic chocolate blend(basically more cacao than choco so it has a bitter taste). We also went for a choco platter which consisted of marshmallows, malteasers, choco biscuits, choco brownie and cream. This was plenty for 2 to share allowing you to add bits and bobs to your hot chocolate and also allow you to indulge in a few small treats. The place is great, service is good and the drinks were perfect for a cold rainy day.

Their hot chocolate is the best in town. They have 30%, 50%, 70% of chocolate with optional toppings. The hot chocolate tastes good even when it cools down. They offer almond-based hot chocolate when requested, but not for 70%. For some variety, try the special hot chocolate drink recipe from the 17th century –hofdrankjie– which is a water-based chocolate drink mixed with a blend of spices, served in a small cup. The place is very cozy in winter but not for summer sunny days as it looks too dark or warm for summer. However it is a perfect place for working, meeting friends, or reading a book alone. There is free WIFI, and upstairs there is a communal table, and couches for nice atmosphere. The second-hand books are for reading on site or for sale(Dutch and English).

Very nice place to get a hot chocolate drink in Gent. Has quite a few books available, working WiFi(password is complicated but printed on the menus). Nice grandfather clock in the back. Would get 5 stars if the first two tables I tried weren’t seriously wonky :)
