This restaurant scored high from me on atmosphere and presentation but low from me on taste. I thought the restaurant was beautiful on the inside and I enjoyed all of the beer and wine I had, and I thought all of the courses were presented very beautifully. However, I was not impressed with the flavor of anything I ate. By no means was it bad, but it just wasn’t memorable or special at all. Which is a shame, because it delivered very well on everything else.

This is one of my most sad reviews. If you were here right now you would see tear drops spilling from eyes. Thanks to Eva at Matalote, she recommended we check out Lux for last night of dining in Antwerp. We walked along the river and through a somewhat sketchy neighborhood that included the cities red light district(ladies in the window et al), but finally landed in a truly upscale eatery with one of the best vibes in the city. We arrived a few minutes after 8:00 and found the dining room to be bustling with patrons. Our hostess led us upstairs to our table that allowed a view of both the lower floor and also provided a direct view into the butcher area where we could see full pigs being ripped apart. Hello pork tenderloin! If you are at all squeamish with the sight of hanging animal carcasses, you may want to consider sitting downstairs. But in defense of Lux, no one can deny the freshness of their meat products. Both the food preparation and presentation is top notch. The Chef knows what they are doing and kicks major ass. Everything from the risotto dish to my wife’s pork were cooked to perfection and the carpaccio starter was devoured within minutes. Our desserts were AMAZING! Be sure to get the flat apple tart thing. It was one of my all time favorite desserts. So how can a five star dining experience make me so sad? It was here, where the sommelier brought over my all time favorite Belgian beer and it was to be my last. Triple d’ Anvers is a locally produced ale, and when I returned back to the US have been searching for it everywhere. But I cannot find it. No where no how. I vow to return to Lux for one last sip of Triple d’ Anvers.

A classy restaurant and bar combo. The restaurant is comfortable and trendy with a varied menu. We had the set for EUR34 which had great choices including a local Beef starter, main courses of Duck, Scallops or Vegetable Lasagne. The best part was pudding… There was again 3 choices, but the chocolate filled marzipan ravioli was a delight. With wine, water and coffees, all in at EUR100. Not cheap, but well worth the cash for a great night. The bar also has a varied selection of after dinner drinks and a great ambiance. We stayed a while at a table with a harbour view, whilst enjoying a late drink.
