I had a macaron and coffee here. The coffee was decent, but I can definitely say I have had MUCH better macarons in both Paris and Brussels. The poor review is more for the attitude of the workers there at the time. The food was probably 3 or 4 star worthy. I ordered my food for take away and I realize there is a price difference for sitting in vs taking away. However, I thought it would be ok to have a few sips of my coffee and a nibble of the macaron while waiting for my friends to order(we all came in together and were the only people in the shop). I got a lecture from one of the workers about the difference in VAT between eat in eat out etc. It wasn’t like I unpacked everything and blatantly sat down and ate my slightly cheaper food and the VAT police walked in. Pretty much turned me off to this place.

I believe Boulangerie Paul is a Parisian chain, but they are making their way everywhere. And it now seems to be impossible not find one on every street corner in Europe and even are popping up on the East Coast of the United States. I however am A OK with this. Unlike Starbucks, this place is actually good. The coffee drinks are crafted to order. I am a fan of their lattes, but their hot chocolate is a tad to thick for my liking. The sandwiches are also solid and made each day. I am a sucker for a ham and cheese baguette, and theirs are a good sized portion and big enough to share. And if you have a sweet tooth, they do have macarons. However, I did not get a chance to sample them. How the Hell I let a macaron slip past me is a mystery.
