My husband and I were in the mood for South Eastern Asian food and we knew there were a few options located along the Pelgrimstraat. After a quick stroll evaluating options, we decided on Krua Thai. The restaurant is small and cozy with friendly staff. After browsing the menu, we decided to take starters and a main course because we were quite hungry. My husband ordered one of the soups and I took the fried chicken in banana leaf — yum! For our mains, my husband ordered the spicy basil chicken dish and I decided on the fried duck. If it says spicy you can expect spicy! But mine listed no spice and was a bit too sweet for my taste. Luckily you can ask for a side of dried chili pepper! You have a lot of options — vegetarian, fish, chicken, pork, duck, and beef — so if you’re with a group this is a great location. The low lighting gives a cozy, intimate atmosphere. I would definitely come back next time I’m in the mood for Thai.

Green curry with chicken was excellent, spicy. Pad thai with chicken was good, very sweet but came with a little fish of dry spicy red pepper that helped cut through the sweetness. Husband didn’t like the pad thai though, thought it was too sweet. Crunchy shrimp appetizer was good. Sat upstairs in the mezzanine. Nice and cozy. Baby high chair was available.

Finally! A place that serves Thai hot! Had the Tom yum goong which was nice but a bit too sweet for my liking. Followed that up with the Thai spicy phad ka paow kai. Once I added the chillies in fish sauce it was rocking! The dish was a little over cooked, but to finally get some spicy Thai made up for it.
