I go to Bocadero ever since its previous editions and mostly on sundays. Its been already my second sunday and I must say is a place to go with a group. The musice is great, the athmosphere is as «beachy» as you can get in Belgium and you can find fast-food, real food and even ice cream :). One thing I noticed, well, people are not strong on creating an ambiance by themselves thats why for me going on a group is a must, otherwise, all you got do is watch and be seeing ;). A part from it, how many options we have on a sunny sunday?

I visited Bocadero in January while the theme is Aspen-ski lodge inspired. Although the decorations were fantastic and cozy, the service was awful and the menu was unoriginal. How can you have a themed pop-up without any themed cocktails or special drinks? The drinks they did offer were extremely limited. Luckily I was at a table with good friends to help pass the 30 minutes wait time for our drinks(one of which wasn’t even what we ordered). So much potential wasted! If the atmosphere wasn’t as gezellig I would only give 2 stars. That said, I’ve been told it’s much better in the summer — but my experience is only in the winter.

Besides the great food this place was so much fun. They have a huge eating area along the boardwalk. There are some spots with beach chairs and sand. Remember we are in the middle of the city. Many seafood and steak options to choose from. Hubby went with the steak and Bernaise sauce. Cooked well. I ordered the mussels. And I could not believe the pot that came out. They were cooked perfect and the butter sauce added a nice touch. I recommend this place for the location and ambience alone. Well worth it.
