I wanted to like this place but I didn’t. It does look cosy and as we sat down we were given the menu and that was basically the end of the good service. It took quite a while to get our food and even when both our glasses were empty for a while nobody cared to ask us if we wanted anything else to drink. The service continued to worsen over the course of our dinner. The food was not more than average. No need to try this. Too bad.

I travel 150 days a year and thus, eat out more than most. I lived in Vienna for 6 months and found Demi Tass as a saving grace in a city of(mostly) mediocre schnitzel. This is an authentic, high quality Indian restaurant with a quaint vibe and very appreciative owners that work there every night. No, it is not cheap, nor are the ingredients which in truth, will satiate your quest for quality. It is a perfect place to spend a night and indulge in an intimate and authentic setting. I recommend the Mulligatawny Soup followed by the Vindaloo Chicken. Throw in some rice and a glass of Gruner Veltliner you shall find a great satisfaction. PS: If you want a quicky meal, ask them when you arrive, you can get in and out in 30 minutes. Other than that, plan to spend a beautiful eve in the finest indian restaurant in Wien.

After hearing that this was the best Indian food to be had in Vienna, I decided to come for a small birthday party with friends. Mistake. Completely overpriced. The cheapest entrée is daal at 11.50 €. Add in rice, wine, and a ‘seating fee’, and that’s a pretty expensive night out for simple foods like rice and lentils. Oh, and you wanted chicken, not lentils? 17 €. When we first arrived it also took them over fifteen minutes to even bring us menus. I mean, feel free to ignore us once we’ve ordered or finished eating, but come on, the place wasn’t even busy. I will admit that the food was good and the«birthday surprise» was quite endearing, but I also didn’t appreciate how the owner came over to us and told us how we should give his restaurant good reviews on Unilocal and TripAdvisor without even asking what we really thought of the meal. Also, they seemed to get a little upset with us for not ordering dessert for my birthday– but hey, we had homemade cake waiting for us at my apartment. Definitely not paying 7 € for a(relatively simple) dessert.

We went here because my husband had read a couple nice reviews about the place. Unfortunately, this is not another good one… I’m not gonna write an essay about this place, but the service is terrible, the papadam dry and the rice tasteless. Ordering went quite smoothly, but then they forgot our friends mango schnapps and when the waitor came with our drinks, he put the drinks(four glasses) on a tray which the then put on a serving trolley to roll to us. Remind you, the place is small. Oh my how unefficient! The food took about 45 minutes to get(the place was almost empty) and when it came, it wasn’t anything special at all. And like stated above, the rice was the worst rice I ever had, mixed with carrots. To top it off, it’s the most expensive meal we had in Vienna which says a lot since we’ve had some nice meals.

Very small but pretentious place with really good food. Choose your poison — terrible skimpy miserly service, small quantities, high prices, but good food! Décor is too many things Indian thrown into every corner possible and only 8 small tables inside, but again, food made it worth it for us to endure everything else, including the obnoxious service.

Gemütlicher kleiner Inder in traditioneller Aufmachung.

Best Inder in Town! I repeat: Best Inder in Town! Word up!
