My husband and I are HUGE beer drinkers with adorable matching beer bellies to prove it. There are some fantastic craft breweries in Australia right now but the price of those pub pints (24 dollars for two, egads!) had started to add up. Our craft beer addiction (IPA for the American here and Belgian for the Frenchie) was eating into our savings in a big way.
Enter Grain and Grapes, which sells all the equipment you need to make your own delicious craft beer at home. Their super knowledgable sales team will give you plenty of tips and advice and there are hops to suit every taste. We just brewed a beautiful American IPA and are waiting on our Belgian. Ninety dollars worth of equipment and ingredients got us 20 litres of brewski. The beer making process itself is pretty easy after you’ve done your first batch. The only annoying aspect of it is sanitising the bottles, but it’s more time consuming then difficult.
If you are a beer lover and a cheapskate like us, this is absolutely the best way to go.
