Quick service and freshly prepared dishes were quite good. The prawn Pad Thai was generously portioned, with 5 or 6 prawns. The crispy pork dish was not crispy, but still very tasty with many freshly stir fried veggies. I couldn’t finish it as it was so large. You can give the starters a miss, as the curry puff wasn’t very crispy, and the pork spring roll had virtually no pork in it.

This is the quintessential café styled, no nonsense, great fresh tasty food, good portions, good price, cooked & to your table in double time, Thia restaurant !! Personally. It’s my favourite & I’ve been eating Thai food for 18 years ! Bring your byo bottle of wine (which they never charge corkage for) Everyone’s happy :) Not a posh interior… if that’s what your after but you can watch the chefs work their magic in full view ! Best Thia in this area. Easily !

Wondered into this little restaurant with my partner the other day and was surprised at the high quality and serving size of the food here. Very friendly and hard working Thai staff too. You get to watch the chef prepare your food right in front of you. We ordered the Chili & Basil stir fry Hokkien noodles with Chicken and the Duck Thigh Noodle Soup which was seriously soooo tasty. We walked away feeling very satisfied! This will be my new favourite place on Penshurst St!

I started going to this place over 15 years ago– while it still has the same god-awful tiles on the wall, chairs and tables, but the food is awesome and not expensive. Our family favourite is the vegetarian fried rice– at about $ 9 for a large container it feeds two of us for dinner. There is parking in the lane behind, and if you’re just picking up take-away, there is driveway to park in at the back.

I eat here all the time and apart from the odd Autumn special –which I haven’t seen in a couple of years — there is one amazing thing about this place that no other Thai has… And that is possibly the worlds best Chicken Laksa. Not kidding. This is hands down the best Laksa I have ever had and even though this is not the prettiest place in the world I have even taken business lunches here just to impress and so far they all agree — I also have the whole office on board. Seriously I do not order anything else as this is just phenomenal — if you like a medium spice noodle soup you have to try this at least once. I have paid triple the price only to say — why did I get the Laksa it could never even compare — and after one serving you will be hooked. Also do me a favor and ask about the autumn special if enough people ask I might just see it again.

The best part of a decade ago the Thai Noodle Hut was little more than a miniscule hole in an old concrete wall. Dark, dingy, soot-filled, with one beaten up plastic table-and-chair ensemble that wailed piteously when sat on. What it also had, however, were two intrepid chefs wearing bandannas(the sign of a serious chef. Or an unimaginative rapper), who were committed to ladling out colossal bowls of spicy Thai dishes using ingredients fresher than. .. than. .. well, daisies, I suppose. So I panicked and that last analogy suffered terribly, but my point is that now the Thai Noodle Hut has double in size(although it’s still just a hole in the wall) and the décor has had an upgrade, but their commitment to the things that made them a Willoughby Rd institution haven’t changed — they’re CHEAP, FRESH, and GENEROUS(none of which are words that can be used to describe my last girlfriend). Seriously, the helpings are gigantic, the ingredients are quality, and the prices! Good lord, the prices! It’s almost unfair how cheap it is. The staff are friendly as all get out but they’re no economists. .. their prices haven’t changed since the 90’s. In fact, I have no idea how they make money. I’m almost too scared to mention that we’re meant to be in a recession in case they weren’t aware of this and raise their prices accordingly. Do yourself a flavour and get the Tom Yum Goong spicy prawn soup. It’s stuffed full of huge prawns, coriander, button mushrooms and at $ 10.50 it represents the best value in Australia. Other faves: sweet soy noodle, prawn with salt and pepper and chilli basil noodle.

We were headed out to the Oaks later and so myself and fellow party goer decided to get some Thai to eat before the event. To save time I googled Thai Noodle Hut on his iPad and made the call, ordered our dishes and then on the way back to his, we stopped in at the Penshurst Street location. «What do you mean you don’t have my order? I called twenty minutes ago.» I said in a slightly agitated, but still respectful tone, trying to decipher why it was that they had no idea what I had ordered. She was equally confused, unable to explain the mix up. Then I realised, glancing upon a placemat, «You have a Thai Noodle Hut in Gladesville as well do you?» She answered with the affirmative. «I see.» I reordered and then went to sit in the car with my friend and to explain the mix up and the failure of our time saving act, a backfire in the simplest sense of the word. I picked up the Thai, always very tasty and always affordable, and went back to my friends house to eat it. Thai Noodle Hut Gladesville, if you’re reading this, I hope you were able to either, sell or eat that faulty order I made. Apologies.

This is the place if you’re looking for cheap and cheerful Thai in Willoughby. If you’ve got a hankering for a Green Curry or Beef Stir Fry but don’t want to spend anymore than $ 15 then this is the place for you. It is a sort of down and dirty takeaway joint so there are no airs or graces about dining in here — it’s better if you take away. The food is fresh and the portion sizes on the extremely generous side. My recommendation is the Beef Red Curry — you really can’t go wrong.
