Having just arrived to Whiteman Park and wanting to make the most of it, I thought I should implore the wisdom of the information desk. Walking into the building(conveniently placed next to public toilets, the water playground and across from the train station) made it a win win, centrally located and offering a brief air conditioned refresher before I took to the park. As if anticipating my first question there was a sign on the counter explaining that«due to high temperatures the train and tram services will not be operating.» Poo! I asked the woman at the desk to explain and she said that as the temperature indicator upon entry stated that the temperature was high(not extremely high or at risk of spontaneous combustion) that for safety reasons the train and tram were out of action. She was however very quick to suggest alternatives and handed me a map and several brochures to keep me entertained. The space is well organised with lots of information, again, not just relating directly to the park, but perth in general– which would be great for people who are interested in more activity based entertainment around the city. Bad news delivered with an honest smile is always a little easier to swallow. Super professional and well informed.
