The staff were really helpful. The wines the Shiraz specifically was super super smooth light bodied, really nice on a hot day. The merlots were more bitey but also a really smooth on your mouth… The desert wines though… Woah! The Sticky shiraz was a winner, sweet and I could see a lot of potential in desert dishes with vanilla bean ice cream ect… So if you are looking to try/buy some really delicious wines through the Swan Valley I would recommend you put this winery on your list of stops!

The perfect stop! Chill out while tasting several of their delicious wines, sample a few cheeses and have a good chat with the friendly and welcoming staff. All for free — with no pressure to buy.

Lancaster winery is literally a tiny tin shed with a tiny outdoor area but the hospitality of the staff and the free cheese and wine tasting make up for this. The Staff are friendly, the tasting options are varied, and the cheese scrumptious. I recommend their sticky shiraz, Chilli cheese and onion and chive cheese. After our purchases the staff dropped us and our stuff off to our car which was parked across the road. Great service great wine and great cheese. Definitely going back!

I had the absolute best time while tasting wines at this winery. Anytime I can hear a line like, «This is the old vine Syrah… it’s just like normal Syrah, only from older vines,» I know I am in a place that appreciates me. This was only the tip of the ice berg for the funny things that the guy who was serving us our wine said throughout the tasting encounter. We learned that we showed up on his third shift working at the place, but he really made the most of it and made everyone he interacted with laugh hysterically. In addition to the comedy routine, tasters were treated to some cheeses with their samples. There was a chive and garlic soft cheese and a chili hard cheese. They were both very good but I preferred the chill one. There were plenty of women in attendance for a hen party, so this place seems like a great place to host an event. Everyone was having a great time and the buzz around the venue was evident. This was a sign of a lot of fun while tasting wines in the region. This is a great thing for a young, exciting wine tasting type.

Great little casual winery! Rocked up at 4pm to free wine and cheese tastings. The dessert wines were lovely, and there was a great selection of wines to taste, for a $ 3 charge(refunded if you purchase wine). Small outdoor patio, cute, but not a place you could relax with friends and a picnic… More like a little outdoor bar.

A tried and tested stop for a Swan Valley tour. The setting is quintessential Swan Valley. This stalwart venue really sets the scene for a day in the Valley. It’s just an open shed that they serve the wine and cheese tasters from, plonked in between pretty vineyards. They’re always busy so book ahead if you have a group. Their wine is nice, I prefer their whites. Prices start at around $ 20 a bottle.

I love this place! It’s a small unique winery, when you enter it’s a tree lined driveway which is very naturous. The scenery is beautiful, green and a small vineyard rustic feel. I have been here a few times and it always intrigues me. The $ 5 tastings is well worth it and you can add another $ 5 for cheese as well! The Chenin Blanc is a delicious light, crisp and lifted aromas of passionfruit and crisp green apples, a beautiful taste. The Rosé is fruitalicious, summery and very delicious I have bought this wine before and enjoyed it on a summers day by the pool, can be made into a cocktail. The staff are informative and very helpful. I would definitely return to this local winery :)

Lancaster Wines is always on my list of places to visit when doing a Swan Valley wine tour. I’ve visited this rustic cellar door numerous times and still love it on every visit! Quite simply it’s a tin shed nestled next to the vineyard. Staff are always super friendly and funny(since when was wine tasting so serious?). Sometimes when I’ve visited in a smaller group we’ve been offered complimentary cheeses with the wine tastings. With larger groups they usually request $ 5 – 10 which is still a pretty sweet deal if you ask me. The wines are all good easy drinking wines with their whites being better than their reds for sure. Highly recommend stopping here when in the valley.

This is the way wine tasting is supposed to be. Forget the wine giants who spend all this money on a huge building just to usher you inside to stand at a bar. There is nothing better than a quaint little shack amongst the beautiful vines, tasting good wine and enjoying some lovely weather. I won’t mention names, but a few of you wineries could take a page out of Lancaster’s book. Lancaster dedicates its time and money to good wine. Nothing flashy, nothing pretentious, just good old fashioned wine making. A lot of wineries stray too far from that concept and it’s good to see a successful winery sticking to its roots. Bravo. Their Chenin Blanc is to die for and if you come to this place, order a cheese board. They carry these cheeses that are just ridiculous. Well worth the money. For me personally, their whites are far superior to their reds, but overall, one of the best stops in Swan Valley.

I love this place. In short, it was one of the first places I was taken to when I moved to Perth. Even if you can’t get on board with their wines or served cheeses(you are no friend of mine!), the view and vibe is a great insight to what is Swan Valley. What Lancaster has done with a tin-shack is rustically, magical. Be prepared for touristy(and sometimes ill-behaved) crowds. You might want to research non-peak times. I’ve been served twice by the young blonde and she is incredibly nice, chatty and informative.
