Great friendly service, amazing food and lovely atmosphere. Great for a night out with friends or family. Smaller plates are great for sharing. Chicken Karaage is a must try!

I came to this place having been told so many good things about it but to be honest felt it to be mediocre at best. When you walk inside you can’t even hear yourself think let alone talk to the person next to you. Granted the place was busy I was given the impression it must be very good food but I found it to be pretty bland and boring. Price doesn’t usually bother me but I find it over priced for the quality of food, the time it took to get our food and even drinks. Thee staff were friendly.

Love this place. Pumpkin curry is delish and the sticky pork is better than a fish. A better place you couldn’t wish.

Having had a great experience here a while ago, I was feeling quite excited to visit again, maybe it was my high expectations that caused me to leave disappointed. We order the karaage chicken and a cocktail jug to start, both delicious and served to us promptly. However our snapper took a very long time to arrive, with no rice — apparently the dish had rice noodles in it, which I found a bit strange considering something that could absorb the sauce was needed. We decided to wait for our other main to arrive before we started eating, a bad choice considering it took such a long time to come that our dish began to get cold. When we finally decided to complain, the attitude that was given to us by the woman who seemed to be the manager, was quite unprofessional. I do understand that Chop Chop Changs is a very busy restaurant but waiting over 25 minutes for rice isn’t acceptable in my opinion. The Penang beef was delicious, but not worth the wait, and our snapper was over cooked and not very tasty; and restaurant was extremely hot, I was sweating. Don’t think I will be back here again, quite disappointing as I did really enjoy my meal last time.

Best in town!!! Seriously — whenever I’m in Brisbane I make a beeline for this place with its super cool décor, ridiculously awesome food & fabulous staff. Last time I was in Brisbane I couldn’t get a table coz they were so popular — I seriously wanted to cry. Today I had a casual lunch — between 2 we had the(stupidly delicious) caramelised pork, the kale & garlic dish & the green papaya salad. The ingredients here are always super fresh & served up beautifully! I love you chop chop changs

Last night was a semi special occasion for me, one of my family members were in town and I wanted to take her some where relaxed with great food and a great atmosphere for dinner. I wasn’t disappointed! On arrival we were seated straight away into a nice comfy seat for two in the corner, despite it being visibly busy. We were looked after for food and drinks straight away and the menu was explained to us and dished recommended. We ended up feasting out! Whole school prawns– are to die for! Tiny little crispy deep fried prawns, so tasty and a great snack to have while you browse the rest of the menu. Corn and coriander cakes– wow. Just… wow. Karrage chicken– such a flavoursome dish, would be great for children too. Twice cooked sticky beef ribs– after reading rave reviews about this dish I knew I had to have it. I wasn’t let down, but there was no way I cold finish them after everything I’d already eaten! And spiced apple dumplings with home made coconut ice cream to finish! All in all, I’d love to visit this restaurant again. The staff are very attentive and friendly, the atmosphere was on point, the food was quick to come out and was so good!

Every Friday night a few friends and I try a new spot in Brisbane. I can safely say that so far in terms of atmosphere, service and food, chop chop changs has been the best so far. The sticky pork ribs, fried prawns, chicken karage were all noteworthy dishes, and I found I was genuinely full but wanted more ribs just for the awesome flavour. Service was great, and the owner Brett clearly knows how to run the place whilst still being able to get out and serve customers as well. Chop chop changs is a great place to start a night out in West End as it is located right near a number of epic bars like lock n load, Brisbane brewing company and many more. All in all a great night!

My initial impressions was that this place would be a 3 or 4 star(not a big fan of fusion food). But the food was surprisingly tasty and also had some very exceptional/friendly service giving(enough to warrant giving a tip) to our group so that’s a 5 star review right there from me.

Quite a good option in the West End. Came for lunch and found the portions very nice for unexpectedly reasonable prices. Sticky ribs were excellent, just wish there’d been more of the herb salad(the perfect foil for the dish). Barramundi laksa was very tasty, and though the fish was well-cooked, the fish was just a hint beyond fresh(nothing offensive, just a bit more fishy than I typically find). Picky family members liked both the chicken and cashews and the crispy pork with noodles(though they should leave the pork on a side plate and allow you to add it as desired to keep it crispy, plus I would have liked more choy sum). Takeout containers were iffy and prone to spilling, so careful if you plan to bring home anything particularly liquidy. Pleasant wait staff were accommodating and liked the atmosphere. We’d definitely recommend as a low key and tasty lunch option in the area.

Now there are a few things great with this place but also a few things distinctly lacking. We pretty much ordered everything on the starters menu besides the wings and larb and they were 12+ dollars each, and small sized. The egg starter was nice, but it was literally 2 eggs, cut in half on a plate with sauce and crispy kale on top… which was nice. But for the price, I could have bought 2 dozen eggs possibly 3. The chicken karaage was delicious, can’t fault it. The scallops(4 of them) were really yummy in the miso butter too, also cannot fault things cooked in miso butter in general yuu-um. The corn fritters looked like thai fish cakes, there were 6 of them also quite the yummy dish. The dish of the night was definetely the $ 26 sticky beef ribs, the sauce, the consistency of the meat and the portion size was just plain great. Delicious. Mouth watering and super tasty. We also may have over-ordered but got the Crispy Pork Belly on the noodles. This was average, wouldn’t get it again, the crispy was not so crispy soaked into the soup and it was an average tasting dish. I do like the fact they have a choice of jasmine or brown rice, and the iced teas were really quite nice(pomegranite especially). The service let this place down, with 5 – 6 servers, it took us a bit of hand waving to actually get one over to take our order and it took longer for us to ask for a drink menu which really should be on the table next to the placemat paper menus. The dumpling desert was really nice, and with drinks and the meals costing us $ 140 for 3 people we did walk out pretty full. Also, with the seating style, they shouldn’t take reservations… it defeats the whole purpose of sitting people next to each other in rows when you have rows reserved for other people… if that makes sense. Overall, would be back for the beef ribs.

Went in and the design and décor was great. Food was also great. Well prepared presentation and side dishes were spot in.

We were greeted by a friendly waitress who asked if we would like a shared table inside or our own table in the courtyard, we chose the courtyard as it was less busy & seemed better for conversion. There is a large selection on the hawker style menu, our group of 4 decided to share a few of the menu items, coriander fish cakes, larb issan, twice cooked sticky beef ribs, grilled szechuan eggplant and fish laksa. All were reasonable sized portions for sharing & were really flavoursome, especially the larb issan & tasty ribs. The desserts sounded interesting, Tokyo smash? Maybe another time. There are many restaurants to choose from in this area, this one may be a little pricey for Asian but the food is delicious.

After hitting up the ever-fabulous Bearded Lady on a Sunday afternoon, my party of 6 decided we were hungry like wolves, and walked right across the road into the very inviting Chop Chop Changs. Overall I would say it was a 3.5÷5 experience, but I round up because I’m feeling nice. My beau and I started with some Edamame, and a jug of the Drunken Peach Ice Tea — the serving of edamame wasn’t what I would call generous(less or equal to what you would get from a sushi train serving), but they were definitely fresh; and accompanied by a delicious bowl of spice and flavour for dipping. The cocktail was horrible. It didn’t taste like peach ice tea at all — literally just an uncomfortable amount of what could either be heavily concentrated peach tea flavouring, or a very generous serving of sugar syrup. In a 1L carafe, it would have barely had 2 standard drinks in it. After this, we shared some of the Corn and Coriander cakes — these were great. They were piping hot and fresh from the kitchen, and absolutely delicious. As a huge siracha fan, I had to hold back and eat some without generous lashings, but they were, of course, complimented beautifully by the smoky deliciousness. The satay sauce and vegetables was good because the sauce itself was perfect — but the vegetables seemed to be just defrosted instead of fresh, and lettuce/cabbage doesn’t make for the most ideal dipping apparatus. The highlight of my dinner was the Stir Fried Eggplant Szechuan, which was hands down the best vegetarian stir fry I’ve ordered before. Overall, Chop Chop Changs is definitely a place you bring a group of friends — there are no small tables, so I’d imagine at peak time(we were there just after 5pm) it would be incredibly loud. They had great taste in music playing, and the wait staff were lovely.

I’m a fan of Chop Chop Chang’s menu, but feel the service needs improving. The dishes are all full of flavour and great for sharing which is perfect for my regular dinner catch-ups with a friend. Last time we tried the Wok Tossed Mooloolaba Prawns with rice noodle and the Caramelised Pork with Tamarind, Star Anise and Cassia Bark with our favourite side, the sautéed Kale. The prawn noodles could have been a bit more generous on the prawn side, but it was the pork that just blew my mind. It was juicy, sticky & sweet and just outride delicious, and I could not stop eating it! Just for this dish they should get 6 stars at least; however, the service was unfortunately quite a let down on the other hand. We sat for quite some time after having finished our mains and were contemplating of ordering the Chocolate Cardamon Fondant as dessert that had caught my eye on the menu before, but no waitress came over to ask if we would like to order anything else. So we gave the mains some time to digest before approaching one of the girls ourselves to order the dessert. By that time it turned out the kitchen had shut down the oven and this dessert was not available anymore. Although the girl apologised for the oversight of not asking us earlier if we’d like anything else, it did not feel very genuine as she nonetheless expected me to order another dessert and frowned upon my refusal to do so, promptly bringing us the bill without having been asked to do so. I will go back and try the fondant another time soon, making sure to order earlier, but I really hope the place matches their delicious food with better service in the future.

This is one of those shared menu-style places where your eyes will ALWAYS be bigger than your stomach and you leave with the top button undone. Not so much because of the size of the plates, though they are decent, but because theres so many delicious sounding options too hard to resist. My Chop Chop Changs visit started with a cocktail jug of boozey peach and green tea, while my friend and I deliberated over the options. We decided on the Corn and Coriander Cakes, amazingly tasty, fluffy and crisp but so filling we nearly after the first course, sweet and spicy Chicken Yakitori sticks, a delicious stir fried kale dish and Crispy Roast Pork with egg noodles. We tossed up another side but were so glad we decided against after stuffing ourselves to bursting on what we ordered. Everything was irresistibly good, coming out quick but perfectly timed to arrive as we were finishing the plate before, with very attentive service. And the $ 34 cocktail jug got us 3 sizable drinks(and a little tipsy!) each, which in books is pretty good value! All in all, $ 90 well spent.

I’m definitely one to give a poor restaurant the benefit of the doubt and return to see if they have improved. And so I did with Chop Chop Chang’s last night. I’m so sorry I did. I just want to grab the owner’ /managers of these places and just SHAKE them! Training, Training Training!!! Systems Systems Systems! You can’t have good food without impeccable staff training and seamless systems. The waitress took our first drinks(beer) order promptly. And they were served promptly — and from there on in — it was all down hill my friend! They totally forgot about us even though it was very well staffed, waitpersons walked by us constantly and that it was fairly empty due to State of Origin. My friend and I used this loooong down time to chat and catch up on news. We caught up on a lot! Finally, our waitress walked by and I mentioned to her that she’d forgotten us. She blushed, and took our orders. 2 complimentary beers soon turned up at our tables without explanation. (I really liked that touch — but perhaps a casual explanation and apology and reassurance that things were now back under control is always comforting) The food was great! If I was just reviewing this restaurant on the food — it would get 4 stars. We had Edamame that sat in a lovely soy juice, we had scrumptious pork belly that we wrapped in lettuce leaves(too thin and spear shaped, needed to be more cup shaped) and Seared rare beef Tataki. Well done kitchen! After our dinner we chatted more and gazed at the dessert menu that seemed pretty damn good. Oh WTF we said, let’s get dessert! We waited, and waited — and no one came near us, or even glanced in our direction. In the end we had to admit defeat and had to wander around and ask«where to pay». We went and spent our money at Cobbler instead. You snooze CCC’s, you lose.

As a visitor to Brisbane was taken there to try as my uncle wanted to try it as it was fairly new and he hadn’t tried that one yet! After walking the street after wards I am convinced he is a master of this street! We were ushered out the back and at first we were wondering where we were going but were pleasantly surprised as it was a nice little area. The good was really good but have to say the drinks are a little on the pricey side. I had the beef ribs and they were delicious. Probably the favourite dish on the table was the penang of beef. Had amazing taste. They even have Brown rice as an option which is the first time have ever seen this on a menu. If you are deciding whether to try it or not give it a go. You won’t be disappointed with the food.

Love the sticky beef ribs! What used to be the old Music Kafe has received a refreshing facelift with a modern industrial style fit out and an exciting Asian Fusion menu. The staff were attentive, at times it was a little confusing being asked several times for our order when we has already placed it. Other than that the service was fast, accommodating and friendly. After ordering our first round of drinks the drinks menu dissappeared which made it difficult to make a second selection without having to ask to see the menu again. I have to admit I am not a huge fan of the communal tables. When you are dining individually or as a couple, this can be a bit awkward. The food was amazing! Fresh, melt in your mouth and reasonablge portion sizes. Certainly worth trying at least once. I am more than likely to go back.

Food: Shared dishes(average in size) that take inspiration from all over Asia. Delicious but not exactly authentic but I don’t think that was the intention. Quite fresh ingredients which is not all that common for Asian. Desserts are a slight twist on well known Asian desserts(not just deep fried ice cream and bananas!) which is really nice to see. Also delicious(sago!). Drinks: Beers, wines, cocktails, coffees, soft drinks. Notably tall bottles of Tsingtao beer which means you don’t have to travel to the likes of 2002 Cyber City. Service: Really attentive, even when super busy. They just opened so hopefully this keeps up. Price: Expensive when compared to Asian equivalents but about average to above average if you compare it to places like Wagamama. Venue: Indoor long shared tables, smaller tables out the back and a bar. Chairs are stools and not backed. Relaxed atmosphere and the music is decent and not too loud. Bookings: Only if you are a group of 12 or more. Other: If you adjust expectations and realise this is not your local Asian the prices won’t hit as hard. The food is delicious and fresh so it’s somewhat worth it. If you’re used to paying Wagamama prices then you’ll be fine. Context: Have been here once 3 days after opening.
