Out of the ashes of Bowerbird Café comes a new, smaller espresso bar — Beanbag Espresso. Located amongst a small collection of shops on Rode road in Wavell Heights, Beanbag is a wonderful little addition to the Wavell Heights area. It’s definitely something you might miss if you don’t pay attention, but if you’re in the area it could become your local coffee on the run spot.
The inside is small with a window bar & stools for seating, it’s most useful for a coffee on the go but I sat and people/​car watched while I drunk my coffee. Coffee is by Cleanskin and I had my flat white on almond milk, it was made so well as sometimes I find certain almond milks go a bit funny. I had a Mocha Coconut cupcake which are the vegan-​friendly Cloverly Cupcakes (drool over them on instagram) and it was $ 6 for both, bargain!
The two ladies working at Beanbag were so lovely and definitely made me want to come back again and again for coffee and cake. If you’re after somewhere quiet to caff-​up on the Northside, this could very well be the spot.
