The humble spud. Where would we be without it. imagine… no chips! No mash with your sausages! No potato salad at summer BBQs! No crunchy roast spuds with your leg of lamb! No new potatoes, dripping with butter with… damn. i’m making myself hungry now. Anyway, spuds are great. The Jones family have been growing them on their property at Warragul for four generations. So they really know their spuds. They have started selling direct to consumers so you can have freshly dug spuds delivered to your door. They sell multiple varieties, and no. spuds ain’t spuds. Some varieties are better for chips, some for mash, some for roasts and so on. From your basic Nicolas(mash and roasts) to your fancy Kipflers(roast and salad) and King Edwards(Best. Roast. Spuds. Ever). The farm is managed«according to biological principles» which means they work with the natural, beneficial insects and soil organisms to reduce the need for pesticides. I know spuds are somethign you can pick up for next to nothing at the supermarket but its really worth buying from(and supporting) the growers directly. They get a living wage, you get really fresh, top quality produce that hasn’t been stuck in cold store for months. Their local community benefits because they can keep their farm running and employ people. Your friends and family benefit because you cook them amazing food. Everyone wins.
