Been twice for takeaway coffee(didn’t judge first time) but both times average coffee and lukewarm at best… If you like cold average coffee this is the place for you!

I have been here a few times; this being my first Sunday breakfast though. It has an unassuming shop face but is deceptively large. There is plenty of seating with both small tables and oversized ones perfect for groups. Today it was filled to near capacity. Great for business but not so great for conversation. I much preferred it on the Tuesday and Friday mornings with less people. It is also order and pay at counter so there could be a wait. I can say that the food is good but there is something missing. That wow factor that puts it a cut above the rest. I did however enjoy the hot white chocolate.

Appalling service meets mediocre food and coffee, and a tacky fit out which is such a shame given the great location on The Esplanade across from Lake Macquarie. The poorly trained baristas are seriously slow.

Hippo is a great café on the popular waterfront of Warner’s Bay. I love the look and feel of the place — always very fresh, clean, and welcoming. I’ve been there on my own, in small and larger groups, and for breakfast meetings and there’s plenty of suitable spaces for all of of these types of activities. Love that there’s a kids section with paper and pens as well. Coffee and meals have always been good, though service can be a bit slow at times. A downside is a lack of air conditioning in the hot weather. I went there in the middle of January and it was so hot inside that we got up and went elsewhere.

Excellent coffee place. It’s open when the others are shut, especially holidays. Has an outside part for the early cyclists.
