This is the second Spur I have been to, with the flagship store in Mandurah being my first a few years ago. The Spur cafes are all very well decked out with a Cowboys and Indians theme, and are large family-oriented restaurants. The Wanneroo restaurant is massive. And at a lunchtime service(albeit running late), we were one one of maybe 4 tables. It felt incredibly empty, which doesn’t help the atmosphere. Being a fan of ribs, that’s what I ordered and that’s what you get on the plate. Ribs. Well, some chips and some onion rings but nothing green in sight! The amount of sauce per ribs is also hit and miss, with mine being saucy another, another diners being almost dry. Ribs need lots of sauce. Ribs with chips definitely need lots of sauce. When those chips aren’t salted sauce is EVERYTHING. The onion rings were a bit different in that they are very thinly sliced and battered, so you get more of a pile of onions rather than specific rings. Quite tasty, although also could do with some seasoning. The service was very friendly, you were definitely made to feel welcome and despite being at the very end of the restaurant, we were checked on regularly to make sure we were fed and watered enough. Cost-wise it borders on a little pricey for my liking, especially if you would like to add a starter or salad to the meat-athon of the rest of the menu but the serving sizes are very large. The overall vibe of these restaurants is family and big — like a Hog’s Breath style, and those who do big family meals with kiddies thought it would be a great option for them.

This place is huge but sadly, no crowd. My badminton club organized a lunch here today & we individually ordered & paid at the counter. 21 of us seated at the far back end of the restaurant, no water is served. I went & told the wait staff to bring dehydrated old folks some water. Food came at all different times, some of us hv finished the meal & others are still patiently waiting! Disappointing! When asked, waitress goes«it’s coming, it’s coming» in a rude tone. Some ladies ordered wine, asks waitress where is it & she says she’ll check. 10 mins later, still no wine. My friend Jan had to go to the bar & ask for it(mind you, wine has been poured & sitting there). Service is horrible & food isn’t fabulous. I won’t waste my time or any of my friend’s time going back there again. And lastly, the bathroom smells.

Look, this is a fabulous place to take the kids, but we must have gone in on the wrong day! I went there because I am a steak lover and was very disappointed. The semi open kitchen proved that there wasn’t an apparent representation of experienced chefs in the kitchen. My steak was inedible. It appears it’s an average steak house albeit a welcome addition to a family orientated market that requires a place that parents can take their children and not have to sit at the table with them while waiting for food.

Spur’s are popping up all over Perth now and #3 just opened in Wanneroo(their first one NOR) so I thought I would pop along and check it out. HUGE restaurant, huge meals and friendly service to the extreme(I got asked 3 times in about 2 minutes how my meal was). Bonus points for kids eat free nights Monday & Tuesday, massive kids menu and a huge indoor play area.
