I wasn’t able to get much of a feel for the atmosphere of this place, as it’s kind of small and there’s only one table outside. One thing I did notice, though: it was hot in there. I had the Mediterranean Meatlover’s pizza, and my dining companion, Storm, had the Margarita. The first things I noticed when I bit into my pizza was the flavour of herbs and the crumbly meat. Then the crispy bread hit me and immediately I thought of Italy. Although it wasn’t quite like some of the pizza I’ve had in Rome, it was pretty brilliant. Soon I noticed a spicy sensation in my mouth that grew with every bite. It seemed to grow and grow without leaving that sweet spot between too spicy and not spicy enough. It was almost as if the pizza itself refused to be forgotten, as if my taste buds were calling for an encore after each mouthfu. I’ve never experienced that with a pizza before — usually it’s a choice between too spicy or not spicy enough. It should be noted, though, that while I rather enjoyed this, Storm found it to be a little too spicy for comfort. A good choice of sauce rounds the meatlover’s off nicely, leaving me satisfied with my purchase. The Margarita was, surprisingly, not as simplistic and minimalist as I thought it would be. The tomatoes are very pronounced, so if you don’t like fresh tomatoes I wouldn’t recommend this pizza. Funnily enough, Storm doesn’t like fresh tomatoes. The cheese had a pleasing depth and roundness to it that, had it not been for the tomatoes, would have made it a main ingredient rather than just a supporting topping. This is the perfect pizza for the cheese lover who wants more than the usual ho-hum, boring cheese pizza. The prices are decent. You’ll pay somewhere around $ 15 – 19 for a large, but it’s delicious and filling. The Mediterranean Meatlover’s was closer to $ 16-ish for a large. The sizes, too, are pretty good. Storm was full after his small pizza and I still have 2 slices of my large in the fridge. If you want a sit-down dining experience, maybe give this place a miss. But five minutes’ walk from this place is the foreshore of the Swan River, and that’s a pretty awesome place to have dinner and look at the distant lights. 4⁄5 stars.

Broadway Pizza, located on Broadway in Nedlands is by far the best pizza in the city. The staff are always friendly and the service is great. They have a selection of gourmet pizzas that I havent tried, because the milano, supreme and meatlover’s etc are all delicious, but I will get to them: trust me. There’s a manager lady there who is a sweetheart, so call in and do yourself a favour next time youre close to nedlands :-)
