Well, this seems to be the goto place for anything and everything camera related. I ended up poping in here because it’s, well, really big, and close to work, to see if anything could be done with my camera. Well, the short answer was that it would be cheaper to buy a new one, which is what I ended up doing. The guy who was looking after me was extra helpful and able to answer all my questions without too much trouble. The store has three levels, and on the top level you can also visit a camera museum(which I didn’t at this time but I’m going to have to go back there sometime to have a look around).

I really love photography. There is no denying it! The guys who serve at this store are knowledgable and really helpful. These guys also specialise in insurance claims. ** note this place barters, don’t stick to the listed price, you should be able to get them down by 10−20% depending on how friendly you get with the sales person.

Learning to use a Digital SLR properly at Michaels Camera School was a good investment of my time. I had a free voucher for the class, as did anyone else who buys an SLR at Michaels.

It’s not often that I’m willing to drop a grand+ on a DSLR, indeed, it’s happened precisely once, ever, and it was NOT at Michael’s. I’ve been in a few times but found the staff unavailable, aloof, unhelpful and generally not pleasant to deal with. After several unsuccessful visits to get help and advice, I finally saw the model I wanted on display. I waited, patiently, next to the display. For about 20 minutes. My patience was exhausted(permanently) when a sales assistant(who saw me waiting there, made eye contact a few times, etc) not only helped someone else who came in very much after me, but, pulled the same unit I was after out of the display. I made it clear they lost a sale, and for the customer service experience, my business, permanently. There is no excuse for poor customer service.
