Danced the night away on Saturday until it was time to leave and I threw on my trench coat and purse. I had sit it on a wooden table by the dance floor and realised both items were covered in purple paint?! Did not dance on my way home… Two thumbs down.

I never quite plan on going to Blue Bar but somehow just seem to end up there, after a wander down Chapel Street perhaps after a drink or two. It’s on the small side and rather narrow. Compared to other nearby bars, Blue Bar is definitely more relaxed and less pretentious. The fireplace and dated couches make it rather comfortable especially for afternoon drinks! If it’s a busy night however the place will be completely packed and can be a tight squeeze. All in all, it’s enjoyable but not somewhere I’d rave about. Nice to pop in every now and then!

Blue Bar seems to be one of those consistently pleasing golden oldies. There have been many a night during the week when my friends and I have been wandering around Chapel Street looking for somewhere warm, friendly and of course cheap to have a few beers, a good catch up and perhaps a bit of a boogie. Blue Bar is the perfect destination for all three, I’m pretty sure every single time I have been there, they have had $ 10 jugs of beer on sale; Kirin I think it is if my memory serves me correctly. They also have a selection of simple and affordable meal options on offer and a rotating list of dj’s playing different styles of music depending on the night. The most popular of these seems to be RnB on Thursday’s where you can often find locals drinking, dancing and having n all round good time.

«Ahhhh Blue Bar». That tends to be how my friends and I fondly refer to the small but bouncing bar on Chapel Street that continues to be our Thursday night regular, faithfully providing us with fun RnB tunes to dance the night away to. I’m not quite sure whether it’s the down-to-earth crowd, the old school/new school hip hop beats, or a mixture of the two that attract us to this hangout, but whatever it is, I think others are catching on because the last few times we’ve attended, there’s been a line spilling out onto the footpath. Blue Bar is perfect for two main reasons: getting in those sneaky drinks before hitting a bigger, faster, louder club; or coming back after a huge night when all you want is a cheap drink and good song. The upstairs deck — which is quite swanky actually — is perfect for functions or escaping the downstairs dancelfoor for a few quieter beverages. It may not be a club you are proud to rave about, but I don’t care what anyone says — Blue Bar will always hold a special place in my heart.

Blue Bar is one of those places you stumble upon for no good reason, and you’ll be glad you did. it provides an outrageous funky atmosphere which teams old school and new school tunes with great value drinks and the company & décor to match. Although its a small venue, its really packs a punch with crowds spilling out onto the street almost ever night. In the winter with umbrellas and heaters to keep you warm its a great place to let your hair down and soak in the atmosphere on the trendy night strip. Its open every day holding gigs at night with the chance you might just un-earth the next big thing.

Gotta love a cheeky drink ;) Blue Bar is one of those places that sneak up on you on Chapel Street. It’s only small but is always got a happy aura about it. The 80’s style décor and good lighting means it attracts an alternative bunch but the down-to-earth types more than the judgmental«I hate the world» types. There is a lot to like about Blue Bar and the friendly nature of the staff and regulars means it has the feeling of being a good local hangout and chat before a big night out on the town. Even the DJ’s come sit out and chat about life and love and everything in between. I feel like you can get lost in there. The fact that’s it’s open daily means that it also acts like an after work drinks venue where they have embraced that and have got decent DJ’s playing during the week as well. The eclectic feel is what really draws me there and with the prices and drinks available there’s no reason for it not to become a new hangout.
