Been here a couple of times for drinks and had dinner for the first time there last night(eve of Oz day) with the family, including two kids. The rooftop tables cannot be reserved but we managed to grab one quickly. It was very pleasant, nice vibe & relaxing and the clientele at this stage(6pm-ish) were the after work crowd(30’s+) and downstairs had a younger crew(20’s). The bottled beer list is quite amazing(to me anyway), including some American imports. Wine list would please most palates(International selection and local wines e.g. Jericho & Samuel’s Gorge), obviously more choices by the bottle. Food was esthetically pleasing, delivered hot(kids meals arrived first as it should) and without much delay. My salmon was meant to be cooked medium as stated on the menu but arrived well done. That’s my only gripe. Hubby had pork belly and it had a fancy presentation. Kids meals — chicken schnitzel with side raw salad, and ham & cheese pizza were very fresh and yummy. Portions were large(for my young kids) for both but might be just right for older kids. The atmosphere has certainly improved since it first opened. Not my «go-to» bar but I find myself there for a drink every few months if I’m in the area.

I’m predicting The Unley will become the go-to spot for work lunches. This is why I found myself here on a sunny Thursday afternoon. The rooftop space is great — something that brings a breeze and fresh air in after escaping from the office fluoros. There’s nothing particularly different about The Unley though — the menu is typical upper level pub, with schnitzels to keep the work lunch crowd happy, moving up to nice steaks and restaurant type fare. I tried the Atlantic Salmon, which was nicely done — cooked well and served with captatonata and dehydrated olives, which were a nice touch. Good, above standard pub food and worth a lunch visit or an after work tapas.

Why!!! Why change a cool quirky venue to a cold sterile space? Granted, boho had few customers but this reincarnation of a bar is boring, same as most suburban bars in this town: lacking character. Ironically, it seems what suburbanites like… Why? The roof top terrace is nice and hope Adelaide catches up to this 15 year old trend. We would have enjoyed it more than the hour we were there had it not been to a rude waiter who told us our table was reserved without warning and asked us to move. Be weary of the wines as bottles catch the sun and liquid goes bad, as was our experience. The menu? You guessed it… Specials are not surprisingly schnitzel, salt and pepper squid, and. Wait for it… A Parmi… Seriously? Never again.

Unley on Clyde… Boho…The Unley as it is now known; this is usually how the conversation goes once you tell people you visited the Unley. Adelaideans can be like elephants… wide and grey with big ears. Haha oops, I mean they don’t easily forget. Whatever the name is, this place is a well known little haunt right on the border of the outer CBD parklands and the inner suburbs of our beautiful city. I was in attendance for a friend’s birthday drinks; a casual affair, matched suitably by the weather and the venue. It was a lovely sunny afternoon, which was spent on the open-air rooftop bar. It is a cosy space, with a few different seating locations, and a properly fitted restaurant area inside upstairs too. There is a pokies room out the back for anyone keen on a flutter, and downstairs are another couple of other appropriately sized areas for functions such as hens’ parties. Hens parties are definitely something for which this place has also been well-known for years. And the tradition continues; while we were there, three different hens parties had come and gone in the space of a few hours. It didn’t disturb our day, except when we tried to sit down in a reserved area — the bar staff got a little shirty, advising(rightly so) that the area had been booked. The food service and quality was top-notch. I shared a pizza, a few olives, beef satay skewers and some haloumi which really hit the spot after a few choice ales. The sign on the bar downstairs says ‘we love beer!’ in big writing, but there is a limited selection on tap — you’re drinking out of stubbies if you want to visit for the beer tasting. It seems a little off-balance to shout out your love of beer but only have four beers on tap(that I could see). The Wellington in North Adelaide, by comparison, has 32 beers on tap at any one time. That is true love of beer in my opinion! There is also a conveniently located bottle shop next door if you want to grab a bottle or two of something special on your way home, or some tobacco if you are so inclined. The Unley has an enjoyable casual atmosphere, and the service and food were good enough that I will be back very soon.

Really good vibe. The rooftop bar looks great(rain is currently hampering our enjoyment of the space) and good music on a Saturday night. Menu isn’t bad. Staff are all really friendly.

Went to the Unley for Lunch today as it is close to work. I was unsure about going as had heard mixed reviews especially on Unilocal, however the food was amazing. I had the salt and pepper squid which was fresh and full of flavour. New set up is great and a nice update. Went with a group of 8 and not a complaint. Give it a try for yourself.

Oh how I miss the Boho’s cocktail list! That cocktail list was the next best thing to a cocktail bar except that you could buy amazing food at the same place. The décor has changed and the food and cocktail menu are considerably shorter than before. Meals took a while to come out but once they had arrived they were great. No one had any complaints about the taste of their food. The cocktail menu now only has 5 options on it. Why change a good thing?

The absolute worst service I have had in Adelaide for years. Had to ask 3 times for some water to be brought to the table, waitress was very rude when I asked where the Ladies toilets were(the men’s are clearly signed but the ladies is hiding behind a screen). Food was barely warm after waiting probably over an hour for the meals. A real let down.
