Semprinis is a gorgeous newsagency which truly sprawls over their property with an extensive range in almost anything. Semprinis’ magazine selection is vast, covering almost every aspect of interest you could feasibly think would have a publication. They also have a variety of newspapers available daily and staff are happy to organise a subscription for you with certain international and interstate papers so that there is always one waiting for you in the mornings. Semprinis also has a magnificent range of greeting cards and I have whiled away many an hour perusing the shelves to find that perfect card for that certain someone. Semprinis has a reasonable stationery section and notebook selections and a few journals and letter sets are available. A gift shop is also attached to the newsagency which has the standard gift shop fare with a few nice glassware choices.

I’ve got to add a star here, purely for the range of magazines — you will find a bigger magazine range here than mostly any other newsagency in the Adelaide metro area — I did find one specialised newsagency in the city that also had a bigger range of interstate and international newspapers, but wherever that one was it was a pain to park anywhere near — Semprinis wins, hands down, for the convenience of the Unley shopping centre car park. So what exactly do I mean? I mean if you’re looking for a car magazine, they’ll have plenty. Several different offerings for the style you’re looking for. If you’re looking for model making magazines, they’ll have more than one. You can choose from a row of magazines specialising in design, or graphic design, or photoshop, or digital photography, etc. They’ve got the current issues of many US&UK magazines on the shelf, rather than having them 3 months out of date. I could browse here for ages. And it’s the first place I’d head if I was looking for a magazine on a specific subject. Of course, these days I have the internet — that’s made a huge impact on my old diet of magazine after magazine for a source of information on topics I am obsessed by — but it’s still my go to for mags. They do lotto, too. That’s my pet peeve here — the centre is so busy that big draws(which, of course, like lots of other sheep, that’s when I think of getting a ticket) result in crowds at the counters. Small gripe for such a good range. And yes — I use ‘em for gifts, too :)

Semprinis Newsagency at the Unley Shopping Centre is somewhat of an institution. Both a traditional newsagency and a gift shop, they always have a great selection of changing stock. From door mats to tea cups, and necklaces to flower pots, Semprinis gift section is one of those places you go and visit when you’re at a complete loss for what to buy someone. I would have to say though that the majority of their gifts are aimed at a female demographic. Of course being a newsagency they also sell papers, magazines and all sorts of publications and have a great range of specialist magazines to chose from. Stationery too is one of their stock items and although they must find it hard to compete with the big chain stores like Officeworks, they don’t seem to have lessened the amount of stationery supplies they keep on hand. If you need a nice card — or a funny card, wrapping paper or a pretty bow for the top of a gift, Semprinis have a broad range on offer. The do a good business with lotto tickets and scratchy cards and are an agency for Darrel Lea chocolates and lollies — Yum!
