Updated several months later, I’m really happy with Curves Turramurra. The location is very good, the premises are clean, bright and airy(it never smells like a gym), and I’m really impressed with the owners. In the time I’ve been there, there’s been an owner-provided birthday party to celebrate them taking over the business. They figured out that quite a few members either own or work in small businesses and have been promoting those businesses to other members, via posters, talks, demonstrations, samples of wares and on the video screen. Last week, they threw a Xmas party for all the members and the same small business people were able to set up stalls for the other members to purchase from. Xmas party and shopping night all rolled into one. Best of all from my perspective, over the last few months they’ve run special collections for several charities, most recently to provide stock-food and support to drought-stricken farmers in Western NSW, and Share the Dignity, a charity providing sanitary supplies to homeless women and women’s shelters. They’re charities I’d never heard of before, so it’s good to see something different filling a need I’d never thought of before. It’s really nice to see business owners who do that little bit more to make the overall experience really great.
