Had high hopes for Oporto on Glynburn Rd but ended up having a sub-standard experience. Namely, one lot of regular chips was missing and my Classic Wrapper had sauce only at the bottom(so the last inch tasted great… the rest, not so much!). The nuggets(bought for the kids) were good but then if you muck up nuggets you probably shouldn’t be in business! We might try just once more in the hope this was just an aberration but the other reviews seem to indicate we might be disappointed again…

I’m still a little undecided about Oporto — having read the reviews, and having a voucher from the entertainment guide, we figured it was worth a try. The kids loved the nuggets, but then the kids love nuggets anywhere — our serves of chicken were tasty, a little small, but nice and moist — the serving of chips was tiny though. The chips are good, but for the price we felt we had more of a snack than a meal. For my money, I’d far rather have the Red Rooster that was on the site back — I’ll give them a second try, maybe the burgers are the star and we missed out. Prego sauce is definitely a winner — I’d happily buy a bottle of that. There’s a generous amount of parking here, and the premises is nice and clean.

Countless people have hyped on about Oporto to me, so when one opened up just down the road from me I simply had to try it. As I entered for my first ever Oporto meal I was delighted by the interesting menu, with the condiments particularly making me squirm with excitement. Sadly, I was far from impressed. Although the sauces were fantastic, everything else was a let down. Even though we were the only people lined up, our meals took around 20 minutes to be prepared. Fast food my arse! On top of this, they got both my boyfriend’s and my order wrong And then when I finally bit into the burger, the thin chicken piece was so dry and disappointing I nearly wept. I waited a few weeks and then tried again, hoping the young inexperience staff had picked up their game. Yet once again, they messed up the order and it took way too long to make. I have a funny feeling not all Oporto’s are like this…

I remember having my first Bondi Burger at Oporto and then never touching McDonalds again. Their burgers are amazing, for fast food. Their signature Bondi Burger has two fresh grilled chicken fillets, lettuce, cheese, mayo and their absolute delicious chilli sauce. It’s not hot, it doesn’t taste like chilli, it’s much tastier and bears a similar resemblance to mustard. You can also choose to have a single fillet Bondi Burger, which is what I get because the chicken can be a bit overwhelming at times. Their Oprego Burger is also super yummy, that Prego sauce is to die for! They also have a vegetarian burger which is very nice. I love their chips — thick but crunchy with the right amount of salt and comes with a sachet of their signature chilli sauce. Oporto has franchises nationwide, and is definitely one of the better options in fast food.

Ahhh Oporto. What McDonalds is to Hungry Jacks, Oporto is to KFC. I love it. This store recently opened and is obviously still training some staff. It is the first Oporto with a drive through in Adelaide, however, and it was very exciting indeed. Wait times are not very fast for a fast food store. But the food is still good, that’s for sure. HOTTIP: The eftpos machine they use in the drive through window processes unusually slow. If you are in a rush, make sure you have cash in hand.
