Popped in for a Sunday brunch. Was too busy to snag a seat inside but the friendly waitress found me a cosy spot(next to the side street) in the sun. I had a ristretto and it was very good. Smooth and sweet. The premises are classic heritage Melbourne, red brick, timber floors, high ceilings. I ordered the cornbread and it looked amazing — vibrant colours(the first bite is with the eyes). Taste was good. it felt fresh and healthy(ish). Service was top rate. Quick, speedy, friendly. Music — Medium volume(noise can bounce a bit around due to all the hard surfaces) Papers — Yes

Wow! I love discovering brunch spots, this place is fantastic. Great setting with open windows and space, lots of natural light coming in. Service was excellent and the menu all looked lovely, fantastic fresh dishes. Felt like a healthy brunch and was a large amount. Will be back :),

Great little find on High St! Extremely busy on Saturday mornings so come in early. I tried the Lemongrass and ginger congee served with a poached egg, chilli, coriander and fried shallots — great balance of flavours! Almond milk magic was perfect! Service on a busy Saturday could’ve been better but the extensive menu will bring me back

I adore this place. Everything about it is just so well done. The fit out is spacious and a decent size, with the ubiquitous communal table and bar seats at the window as well as some outdoor seating on a side street, far more pleasant than sitting on the main drag. The menu is always interesting and inventive. There’s lots to choose from, and plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options. Generally I find it really difficult to choose because it all sounds so good. They also change the menu with each season, another bonus in my book. Coffee is good and there’s a lovely selection of cakes and other sweet treats on offer. Dangerous when you go up to the counter to pay the bill. This is the best place in my neighbourhood, not just in thornbury but northcote too. A total winner.

Wow! What a find! Short round lies at a sort of dead spot of High street. Occupying a magnificent older two story building, there’s also a great native garden down the side street. Inside it’s open airy and light, and well designed. The space inside is just as great as outside. There’s a cute little semi outdoors area to the side, near the big entrance. Scrambled egg, cheese and bacon sliders are divine. Take advantage of the fact that it’s quieter during the weekdays. Probably the best time to go I’d say if you want to avoid a rabid frenzied Saturday morning. Coffee; nothing to fault in the pour over; well presented and tasty. Cute little names like Mr T for a rum iced tea, and Ginny Hendricks, well I’ll let you guess that one. Great staff and service as well. There’s also a cute little tea menu in drinks, and the food menu overall, looks pretty damm impressive. Can’t really find anything negative and wish to return, although not at times when it’s teeming with too many weekend brunchers/people in for breakfast.

Best breakfast joint in Thornbury on high st. The menu appears to change seasonally and has something for everyone. Coffee is fantastic and they have a selection of teas. Even better they have breakfast cocktails. Service is great and the space has indoor and outdoor tables. Highly recommended.

Loud. Really loud. I think it’s because there is so much concrete, and when it is busy, the noise is exhausting. Nice, new fit out, although the layout near the counter/fireplace is a bit strange. Okay food. I’ve been there twice and was happy with my waffles, and also thought the caullflower fritters were pretty good too.

Such beautiful food. Such bad coffee. Slow cooked lamb is just stunning. Had it twice now, and really good both times. On the second visit, I tried the coffee again(thinking maybe the first time was just an off day). It wasn’t. How can a place that make food this good make such terrible coffee? Perplexing! Anyway, order a cup of tea or a fresh OJ and anything off the menu and you’ll be fine. Then head up High St to Lowlands for a real coffee!

Stopped in for a coffe and cake, the play had a real good vibe about it. The service was great, friendly. Coffee was hot as I like it, and the sweet was nice. There is an outdoor area that you can sit in and lots of different options for seating whether you’re by yourself, as a couple or a group. The place is light and airy and gives off that high st chic feeling. Definitely visit again to try a meal.

Newly opened in Thornbury, the place was already heaving for a Saturday morning when we visited last weekend. I particularly wanted to check it out because I had heard that all their furniture was by local woodworkers, Pop & Scott. While the interiors were well designed and the woodwork was a visual feast for my eyes, I felt the food didn’t quite make the ‘would go back’ for cut. Our brunch took a long while to come out and the flavours seemed to be lacking punch. I ordered the avocado on toast with corn salsa, and while it’s not the most adventurous dish, I feel that if done well could be amazing. The dish wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t a standout either. With so many new cafes opening in the Thornbury area, it’s going to be a tough game to get me back soon, well at least for the next few months.

Breakfast this morning was great. Diverse menu, fresh food and great service. Coffee unfortunately wasn’t the greatest. But still worth the trip. Will go again in a few months, still early days.

I don’t think there’s anything else around that offers quite the same ambience. The coffee and chocolate are by ex-Monsieur Truffe’s store manager(previously of Jasper Coffee) and the food is amazeballs. I had the cauliflower fritters — perfect! There’s also a lovely outdoor area for the summer months. Great for bringing the dogs to. Wheelchair friendly too.
