I’ve come here regularly twice just to get organic chicken sausages(which are not easy to find) but I always go home with more. If you’re in to organic and biodynamic beef, chicken, pork, etc you’ll love coming here as you’ll be able to choose exactly what you want and whatever quantity you desire. It’s expensive(chicken sausages are $ 26/kg) but that’s the price of organic! The butchers and phone staff are friendly and knowledgable. Always happy to take your orders in advance so you don’t miss out.

And good luck to them I say. There is, however, a lot to be said for the neighbourhood butcher shop that cooks up a wee barbie on Saturday arvos and pumps out bangers for under five bucks a kilo. Gone are those days however. Meat is now a luxury item and as soon as I offload that best seller, I’ll be down to Belmore’s in a flash to rig up the most fancy-arsed barbecue you’ve ever seen. No, wait… I’ll no longer be living in Thornbury. Der…
