This place has gone seriously downhill. We’ve been before a couple of years ago and were huge fans. This time the service was haphazard at best, the dishes were inconsistent and there was no attention to detail(Huge hole in the napkin? Really?) whereas before the food was creative and cohesive and the service was like clockwork. We left feeling that we have had better at waaaay cheaper establishments. It kind of backs the argument of never eat at anything with a good view. And what is with people wearing T-shirts and shorts and taking babies to places like this? Hardly makes for a special night. Oh, and not great for coeliacs. Only one option from each the second and third courses and they were so unappetising that I’d rather be crapping blood in a few days than order them.

Altitude is certainly one of the best hotel bars in Sydney. On the top floor of the Shangri La hotel, it has floor to ceiling windows, covering almost every side of the hotel. A great place to get a view of the city at any time of the day, including great sunsets! This bar is darkly lit with some high tables directly at the windows, some set back from the windows and then a few low tables. If you are with a group, get here early as they won’t reserve. However, people tend to move in and out a lot, likely just here for a drink pre or post dinner so it shouldn’t be too hard to stalk a table. The bar isn’t cheap, but still worth it. A large list of cocktails and«The Rocks» beer on tap. A small list of nibbles as well. A great place to take out of town guests, or just to celebrate an occasion, or just because.

Amazing view. Terrible service, unfriendly staff except for the hostesses. The food is very disappointing. Go grab a drink at the bar and look at the view and leave. Don’t waste your time eating here.

3 star restaurant in a 5 star hotel. In a nutshell food was good, but service needs a serious polish. Food was well prepared, but certainly not the best I’ve ever had for the price. Plus there weren’t many appealing options. Biggest problem is that the restaurant needs some more experience staff. Hostess sat us down, when I saw the amazing view we had asked one of the staff to move us to a window table. The person we asked couldn’t help us, gave us some excuse but said he would check with the hostess. Hostess got to us after what I believe was too long(waitress already introduced herself took our drink orders) and said very sorry they could not seat us by the window. There were 3 empty tables by the window, but we didn’t want to make a fuss. We literally just flew in. Then after the waitress came back and took our order the hostess came back to ask if we wanted to still sit by the window. I mean by then it was too late so we politely declined. We were settled. Then another host came and asked the same question. Two of the 3 tables were still empty by the time we left after our meal. I hate to come across as feeling entitled because this is trivial stuff in the grand scheme of life, but it definitely was a bummer and left a bad feeling at the start of our stay. At a genuine 5 star place they would have moved us immediately without question.

Went here for our wedding anniversary. I have to say, this was the best fine dining experience I have had. I had the swordfish and my husband had the lamb and both were delightful. The staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful; and made our dinning experience enjoyable. The view was picturesque and the room was not too busy. There was a great ambience to be enjoyed with our food. Would definitely recommend to friends and return again some time :)

This award winning restaurant is located on the 36th floor of the Shangri-la Hotel, Sydney. The view is exceptional overlooking Sydney Harbour from its 5 metre floor to ceiling windows. If you’re after the spectacular view, make sure you book in advance and request for a table by the window. The food was delectable and the service was excellent. Overall a very good experience at this restaurant.
