This place has just become my go to breaky café out here in The Gap. Friendly, welcoming staff. The coffee was pretty dam good. Especially for Brisbane. Merlo which I enjoy. The food is tasty hot and fresh. A simple bacon and egg toasted bun with your choice of sauce. The egg was cooked thru which I like for a roll. But I’m sure they cook it less if you asked. Best of all it was hot! There’s ever manor of seating you can get. Kind of an evolutionary thing but I think it actually works. Not your boring template look like other(nearby) cafes. Whether it’s indoor, outdoor, bench, table, sofa, chair, lounge suit, still, square… you name it! There’s even a big tv in the back area. Good work guys, I’ll be back!

This café has been operating in The Gap for some years now. I haven’t been there for some time after moving away but visited again today. The food came in a timely fashion but sadly the chicken on the burger my son ordered was burnt on one half and could not be eaten. My breakfast was a little lacking in flavour and presentation but was ok. The chips are FANTASTIC and have always been the stand out product from this establishment. The prices are similar to The Coffee Club next door(closed for renovations) but the quality of the food is not equivalent. I think Café Tara will have to offer more than good chips to get me back.

Café Tara is a nice little café situated in the The Gap Shopping Village off Waterworks Road in The Gap. It is a family owned café that has been around for a while and has a reputation for nice food and good service. I visited there for lunch with friends recently and I did enjoy the meal. I had the poppy seed bagel with the smoked salmon, cream cheese and assorted trimmings and it was fresh and tasty. The order was brought out quickly and the staff were friendly and joked with us. I also had an iced Mocha Frappé and that was extremely good. Served in a tall glass it had the whipped cream on top and was very moreish. The menu has got quite a lot of variety on it, all the standard café meals, and next time I think I will be trying a focaccia as they looked and sounded good. The café also has a little area for the kids to play and muck around in while the mums and dads enjoy their coffee and cakes. In all it was a pleasant outing for a quick catch-up in busy lives.
