I have visited the Fox and Firkin over the years on about 5 occasions. Mainly with friends of ours who are locals and play here in their band«Dirty Frank». I have eaten here about 4 years ago and enjoyed the meal, but for me this place is all about the British pub atmosphere and beer. As far up North East road as you can go before hitting the hills; it is as much an English pub as any you’ll visit in London. London Pride, Old Speckled Hen, Hobgoblin and Newcastle Brown Ale can all be bought in imperial pints. The staff and owner Michael all pour a mean pint and won’t leave you waiting at the bar while they polish glasses or have a chat. The owner Michael has also done some serious renovations while keeping the original charm of the place intact. I remember the first time I visited feeling crammed in, with the low ceilings but with the new toilets added and the space being refurbished to extend the dining area, the interior feels a lot bigger and more welcoming. The ceiling is still low and beams have coasters from English beers and pubs, so it’s retained its charm. Also, Michael has built a great car park and awesome outdoor area for drinking and listening to some local bands. Perfect on a summer night.

This is a nice little UK style pub. Not brightly lit with old people spending there life savings putting them in the pokies or men putting bets on the Horses. No pokies no tab nun of that crap! In the past few months it has had an upgrade outside so there is more parking and more outdoor seating. The food is good, sometimes great! If it was more consistent I would have given it 5 stars. Still the food here shits all over the food at the TTG pub! And you can’t go wrong ordering menu items such as there Bangers and Mash. There is a decent range of beers on tap and a number of beers from the UK. Some from the top of my head. Little creatures pale ale, coopers pale ale. Kilkenny and old speckled Hen. The great thing about this pub is they serve you proper pints in imperial pint glasses, not those little miniature«pints» that get served in most other Adelaide pubs. The imperial pints here are around the $ 10 Mark. This is a great pub to sit outside with friends on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon in the sunshine and sip on quality beer with friends right next to the foot hills.

A tiny pub with a great feel. The restaurant upstairs provides a small-ish menu of quality food at reasonable restaurant prices. Downstairs in the font bar is an amazing English-pub feel with great ambience. Food downstairs is mainly limited to what they can throw in a deep fryer. Obviously the kitchen is limited in such a small place, but after a couple of visits you’re thinking of going out to grab food from somewhere else and coming back afterwards. In summary, great for a catch up with friends, a one off dining visit or as a regular drinking hole.

This is a great little british pub at the foothills of the Adelaide hills in the North East. Quite literally just across the road from ‘The Gully’ hotel, this little stone pub is genuinely like one you’d come across in the UK. Only small, it has a large, green beer garden and a nice little pub eating area upstairs coupled with great pub food and delicious burgers. It is a casual place where you catch up with friends over a beer, have a laugh and a freaking good time.

Named The Fox and Firkin(I don’t even want to know what a firkin is), this very cute little English pub is different place I would normally go. One of my friends started working there at one point so we used to visit her sometimes and The Fox is very small, has so many beers, a nice beer garden and the best burgers. I like it best during the day, like a weekend arvo, with some casual friends, music, sun, alcohol and food. But they do have events on certain nights like jam night etc. The staff are lovely, a mixture of male, female, old and young and they all know the many regulars by name and drink. It’s very welcoming so don’t feel like you can’t go there if you don’t live nearby, backpackers and anyone are welcome. Across the road is The Gully, a bit more of a bigger, upmarket pub with more nightlife. The Fox is right on the edge of the Adelaide Hills and there is plenty of parking around on street and on site.
