Yes to Burger Project being closer to my work so I can eat more often. You know your burger and fries are delicious when you wake up with an ulcer the morning after. Greasy goodness from the fries and the spicy fried chicken burger. I’m always tempted to go a shake but keep backing out… next time, next time.

The place looks like a regular takeaway place from the outside but there is seating down the hall on the side towards the rear. I ordered the spicy fried chicken burger which took about 10 minutes. They provide you with a beeper that works all the way outside in the main food hall so don’t worry about not being seated close to the venue. There’s also a sauce stand just outside with tiny cups for ketchup and mustard and all you can use serviettes which is a change from all those stingy fast food restaurants that only give you one napkin. Now down to the important stuff. The burger. The friend chicken was hot fresh and crispy. Pretty much a hot schnitzel covered in a nice tangy tartary sauce with jalapeños and cheese. I love how fresh it was. Unfortunately the tomato was kinda chunky and the bread extra soft. Kind of like maccas buns. So half way through I was pretty much looking at my fried chicken and tomatoes. Overall a good burger but nothing out of the ordinary. I’d definitely go back just to try the beef burgers and see if they’re any different. Hopefully the standard is a little higher. Long story short, better than maccas but it’s not a super fancy burger place.

I saw the lineups for this place so I decided to give it a go. My burger was good, but it was pink inside, so very undercooked for me. I was disappointed. These things always happen to me when I try new places! I can’t win. I should have asked for it well done & will probably pay the price for eating undercooked later! It’s just like In & Out Burger in the states!! i would go back & order well done & wait longer for it. But I’m Not raving about it.

Went here last week Saturday with a couple friends off recommendations we got. The group was split it our opinion. Firstly the staff and feel and look of the place was great. Your mouth just starts to water when you see the team cutting up prime beef for the burgers. I had the chilli beef burger which was not as spicy as expected but a little to salty. Others had the American burger which was great. Although I burst out laughing when a friend said it tasted like MacDonald burger. We also shared the hot wings and chipotle chips which were very scrumptious! Some of the gang had the shakes and the opinion was spilt. One loved it the other said it was to icy. Overall I do agree with others that the burgers are a tad small vs the price.

Late night at work so thought I’d grab a quick and dirty dinner from Burger Project. I ordered the American Cheese and small chips. It was a nightmare getting into the MLC as they had most access points cordoned off for some christmas concert(this was just after 8pm). Needless to say no queue… yay! First impression when the burger came out was that it was small and overpriced for what you get. The patty was quite thin but I think it’s because they use the smash technique like Shake Shack. Pros: I liked the bun and the taste of the meat patty. The parts of the patty that was not too thin was actually pink and juicy. The onions were also not overpowering. Cons: Seems underwhelming for the price. The chips were pretty good, crunchy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. I also ate«in» which means I got my meal in a paper bag but just went down the corridor to the tables so the burger and chips were fresh and not soggy. Yes I didn’t order a shake, yes that is mineral water in the picture — don’t be a hater. Would I go back… not in the near future because there are WAY too many other places to try out! Burgers consumed for comparison(mostly Toronto): — Shake Shack — Burgers Priest — Johnny Rocket — Five Guys — Rockpool Grill — Carl Jr. — Great Burger Kitchen — South Street Burger Preferred burger style: American/Shake Shack-esque

Neil Perry’s latest Burger Project is located in the MLC Centre at Martin Place. Right smack bang in the middle of the Sydney CBD. The doors open at 11am and close at 9pm for all the hungry ladies and gents who are passing by or work in the city. The MLC Centre food court is a destination in itself for hungry workers. It received a facelift earlier in the year and was filled with fresh, fun food take away places. The Burger Project is the latest new restaurant and the only one to be open late(9pm). I’ve never had a burger from Burger Project before. I’ve heard all the hype but never been in the right place at the right time. Neil Perry is a genius Chef and businessman so I knew anything with his name attached was going to be outstanding! Our team at work were working late last-night and we all had our eyes on Burger Project burgers for dinner. We tried to order online but it wouldn’t work. We walked down to Martin Place and ordered in person. I asked about ordering online and the young girl at the counter said the online ordering will be up and running soon. We ordered and were given a buzzer each. Much like at a pub or fish & chip shop it loudly buzzes and vibrates when your food is ready. They also ask for your name when you order so it’s yelled out across the noise of the buzzer. One can choose to dine in or take away. Seating is available behind the kitchen(see my photo) or there are two tables out the front. My suggestion would be get take away and sit on the MLC steps and watch the world go by. Now for the burgers. YUM. My mate said his was like a fancy Big Mac. Much better than a Big Mac of course. The meat was tender and it had the right balance of sauce, meat and lettuce. I chose the Magic Mushroom burger which was pretty damn good for a vego burger. It comes with a giant field mushroom that is crumbled with tomato, lettuce, pickle and a ‘special sauce’. That’s what it’s called on the menu,?I didn’t make it up! My friend was raving about his Aussie burger whilst the beetroot dripped all down his fingers and his front. Tasty. The chips were ok. Go for the chipotle and chilli if you like some heat and my suggestions is get some sauce. On the menu are shakes and house made ice cream. Totally coming back for dessert. These sugar loaded treats sound delicious. The verdict?! Will I be back? Absolutely! What did I think? It was really goooood. But not Ah-ma-zing… So four dazzlers from me.
