We went for dinner based on reviews. Restaurant didn’t appear to be very busy. We were seated at a table and given menus but no one ever bothered to come back to take our orders. We got up and left. Sorry I can’t rate the food since we didn’t get any service. Service and hospitality are so important especially when you’re competing for business in a city of great restaurants.

Nothing special about this Japanese I did not Like the Mayo on my salmon/avocado rolls. I found the tempura a bit too heavy. Miso soup was nice. The restaurant is super small and tables are on top of each other — i really was not feeling comfortable sitting there

Not bad for a quick bite of Japanese. Fresh food. Friendly staff. Normally we grab a bento box but tonight we tried the sashimi plate, gyozas, creamy egg plant, and a dragon roll. Everything was pretty good. I had to be pushed into the creamy egg plant but I was pleasantly surprised in the end. Definitely worth stopping in if you’re passing by and looking for some decent Japanese.

been going to Nazimi since 2012. Back then it was still a little hidden place and we really enjoyed the fact that we never had to wait for a table. Now it seems they are popular which is well deserved. I recommend the sushi and sashimi(the most expensive option) so that you can get to taste a variety of sashimi. Their unagi is to die for. For sushi roll, go for to the Mont Blanc and you will be glad.

Taste good! I like the hot pot! But please remember $ 25 or $ 27 is just for each person, not the total cost of hot pot!

I came here for dinner a few nights ago. I was the only one late so everyone started without me first. To my memory they ordered the chicken katsu don, the steak, tempura udon and dessert. They all enjoyed their meals and highly recommended me ordering the same but I wanted to try something different so I ordered the salmon and avocado sushi, the potato croquettes as well as the karage chicken. It was delicious and I would highly recommend the karage chicken. The chicken was moist and didn’t dry out due to the frying. The sauce was a mixture of wasabi and mayo but looked like mustard. Would I come to try the rest of the menu? YUS!

I’m typically not a huge fan of Japanese food, yet we had a visitor in town who is and can’t get good Japanese in her area. It was delicious and under $ 20/person which isn’t too common in SYD. I had the Chicken Katsu Don, highly recommend.

Looks like Nazimi has changed hands and the menu is now different to previous. They now do ‘Teishoku’(meal sets) but I found the menu very confusing. There were pictures of sets but no written information of what each really included, nor was there pricing. Then there was another menu with pricing but I really had no idea whether they corresponded to the ones on the pictures or not. In the end, we order 2 sashimi sets($ 18 each), one with tempura as the main and the other karaage chicken as the main. Both came with like a tiny side and 2 pieces of sushi. Rice, we were told was not include and we had to add $ 1 more for a small portion of rice. We found the portions small and definitely not worth the $ 19 each. They also had the Nazimi Special bento for $ 25 and again from the picture it looked smaller than what I would expect for that price. On the positive the sashimi was fresh and the food wasn’t bad. But I am not sure if I would go back for lunch again given the price and portions.

Came with friends for a bday get together, we were all impressed with the food. The sashimi was fresh, there was a great variety(even for non seafood eaters) My only quarrel was service, one of the staff was quiet rude and just generally quiet slow at taking orders and serving.

I only had sushi and I wouldn’t go back. Slow service, sloppy rolls, dodgy looking fish and a tiny selection. Not sure what has driven its current score but no way it’s the sushi.

Nazimi’s storefront isn’t real obvious, they have a little host stand at street level that houses their menu but you have to walk down a few stairs to get in to the actual restaurant. The dining room is small and intimate — but not too cramped. I had the bento box which I thought was the best value at $ 25 because you got delicious miso soup, a few pieces of sushi, and lots of other things. I didn’t leave there hungry! Everything was very good and I wouldn’t hesistate to go again if I was in Sydney.

Yum yum yum! That’s pretty much all I need to say about this small but wonderful Japanese restaurant in Sydney. The sushi is very fresh and tasty(get the sashimi deluxe and share!), and the teriyaki chicken was among the best I have ever tasted, period. Staff are friendly and attentive, and we had plenty of refills of hot water in our tea pot. As others have posted, this is a real hidden gem and the prices are great value for the quality of food. Be sure to check it out, but not on a night when I want a table, hehe!

Amazing. We got into Sydney and were seeking delicious but affordable sushi and went to Nazimi based on Unilocal reviews. Nazimi was fantastic. The staff were super friendly and fast, and the food was outstanding. I love good sushi rolls and these were fresh and delicious. My girlfriend and I got a spider roll, lion king roll, aburi hotate roll, and dragon roll, as well as sashimi salad. All were fresh and delicious. Spider roll is a go-to at sushi places and this was the best spider roll I’ve ever had. They also had Snow Beauty sake which is rare to see and a wonderful treat. To give you a sense of how much we like it there, we will be in town another four days and we intend to go back three more times. The only reason we won’t go back four times is because they are closed on Sunday. I used to have two favorite sushi places in the world, and now I have three including Nazimi.

This place is a hidden gem for quality Japanese food at a decent price. We tried the sashimi(entrée size), tataki, teriyaki pork-wrapped-prawns(forget the name) and scallops. Everything was fresh and delicious and the portions were generous. I had massive food envy when I saw a plate of the tacos(daily special) coming out, also when the huge deluxe sashimi was whisked by to another table. You can order ice cold Asahi on tap as well as a huge range of sake and umeshu — but of course BYO is cool too. I can’t wait to come back.

Nazimi is a breath of fresh air. There are plenty of sushi restaurants in Sydney. You’d think that a harbor city with a solid Asian influence and culture, you’d have plenty of great sushi to choose from. Not the case. Most of them are the same boring«sushi train» where you get fairly decent fish, but very little in the way of creativity. Nazimi sets itself apart. Good quality fish, creative rolls, and priced well. It’s my go-to place for Sushi in Sydney.

Went back to Nazimi today which reminded me that I had been meaning to write a review. The first time I went to Nazimi was last year as a farewell dinner with some friends. FOOD There were 6 of us at dinner which meant we could try a good selection of the menu. Our order: Tofu and Seaweed salad($ 9.80) Soft Shell Crab salad(11.80) Sashimi Deluxe($ 35) Takoyaki($ 7) Hotate Butter Yaki($ 11.80) Tempura Prawn Roll($ 14.50) Spider Roll($ 15.50) Volcano Roll($ 16.50) Tempura Assorted($ 19.80) Rainbow Roll($ 14.50) I thought all the dishes were great and decent portion sizes for the price of each dish. Enjoyed the sushi the most as not only were they tasty but they looked tasty too. Yes I’m a sucker for presentation. VERDICT Great place hidden away down a set of stairs on york st behind qvb. The adult book store upstairs does make it a bit confusing but don’t let this put you off.

Great little Japanese restaurant serving huge portions at reasonable prices. I recommend the salmon steak and the dinner boxes for maximum value and flavour.

Down a couple of stairs, and it’s like you’re in Tokyo.(So I imagine). It’s small. They play Japanese pop music. Quietly. Lots of polite smiling. Swept to a table immediately by a smiling waitress I quickly opted for the sushi/sashimi classic lunchbox set, and some green tea. Was a little miffed to pay an extra $ 2 for the tea, but when it came is a lovely little stoneware teapot with enough for lotsa refills, I understood. This was to be the pattern for my lunch in this super-cosy little restaurant, pleasantly surprised. The miso soup when it came was the best I’ve had for ages, and I chuckled into it when the woman behind me was moaning about the difficulty of selling her investment property. The poor dear. The bento box, when it came, was huge, and seemed a real bargain for the $ 18 price. The sashimi was served on a bed of vermicelli on top of crushed ice and was fresh perfection. The salad had a yummy yuzu dressing, and the sushi was great. The three little warm entrée pieces were a special surprise, crab, chicken and pork of various incarnations. I sat for ages picking away at the lovely bits and pieces and trying not to laugh at the man who was trying very hard to impress the woman he was with while searching the menu in terror for anything that didn’t involve raw fish. Doesn’t know what he’s missing out on. They’re open for lunch and dinner, have a wide range of authentic Japanese food on offer. It’s quiet and petite, and they’ve a couple of tables on the streetfront when the weather’s fine. Though I recommend sitting inside, you can easily imagine you’re far away.

We had a big platter of Sushi and Sashimi and it was really good. It looked like the place was more famous for hot dishes, though. It was full and cheerful and all foods on the neighboring tables looked delicious!
