I’ve had this place bookmarked for at least a year and from the other reviews, I was expecting a full blown mouthgasm from my chicken prosciutto sambo. Sad face. It didn’t happen. The sandwich(chicken and prosciutto) was fresh and a decent value at $ 8. I liked that it wasn’t ridiculously oversized like you seem to get at most other sandwich shops these days. Otherwise, it was pretty standard and probably not worth the extra distance for my own lunchtime run. Big plus: They have heaps of bread to choose from — including a gluten free option.

Made to order fresh tasting goodness. Yup, that sums up ‘A Hole in the Wall Sandwich Factory’. With three staff tucked inside the ‘hole in the wall’ they do pump out fresh tasty sandwiches like a factory! I love the convenience of being able to order in person, online or over the phone. If you order ahead pick-up your order from the hole-in-the-wall which is located at 229 Macquarie Street. Walk through the doors as if you’re walking into the office building and ta da there it is — the hole in the wall. Today I diverged away from my usual choice of a Tempeh burger and didn’t order directly off the menu. I spoke to the friendly guy behind the counter and asked if it was ok to have a salad sandwich with avocado. He happily replied«of course» and asked«with or without onion?!» What a champion! So nice to ask if I want the onion or not! It definitely is a divider on the sandwich front! I tried their coffee for the first time today. It’s All press coffee which is smooth tasting. Not too strong but nice. They have bonsoy and they give you a biscuit! My usual coffee place doesn’t give me a biscuit. So points for that! Total cost for salad sandwich with avocado and soy flat white take away was $ 10.50. It was a damn good salad sandwich but think I might branch out and try the Moroccan Falafel next time :)

We ate sandwiches from here for lunch and they were delicious. We had the spicy salmon(which is just perfectlymildly spicy) and the halloumi. The staff was very friendly. I’ll be coming back again.

Honestly If I hadn’t found this place on the internet I would have not known it existed. First the coffee, they use All Press, which I’m personally not a fan of. It’s too smooth for my liking. But they do make a good cup of coffee and it is relatively cheaper. So if you don’t mind All Press you should get your coffee here. The food is great, it is pretty much a sandwich place. But all the ingredients are fresh and good. It is a good size sandwich. Just a warning sometimes it is a bit crowded. No there is no where to sit, it is literally a hole in the wall — but Hyde Park is just there so get a sandwich and go sit in the Park.

Very fresh made to order sandwiches with super friendly service. Will’s special(turkey breast, beetroot, prosciutto, lettuce & onion) was an interesting combination.

There is no way in the world that you would find this place unless you knew someone that eats here. It’s frequented by lawyers and bankers mostly due to the location but its still really unknown to everyone else. Its on the fourth floor of a office building and it is quite literally a hole in the wall. It is such an unusual set-up, it really is a food oasis in the middle of drab offices. There is now a 2nd «hole» via a small window on the ground floor, so people now have better access to it, but when I go to the main kitchen, its still pretty quiet. Looking at the menu, the food is pretty much standard lunch-time fare, consisting mostly of turkish toasts with a myriad of filling options. The best one for me is the chicken with harissa. Sounds normal but I don’t know why, it just tastes really good to me. The coffee is also good, with the affogato being a special treat before going back to the office. Oh and the banana bread in the morning is also pretty yummy. So if you work in the Sydney CBD around Martin Place and looking for something a bit quirky in terms of location, try to find this place and good luck! :)
