Anywhere that sells bread shaped like Totoro is a winner in my books. They also sell bread buns that look exactly like giant takoyaki balls and bread rolls with soba noodle fillings. I opted for a roll with crumbed fish, lettuce and tartar sauce for $ 2.80 — bargain! I didn’t taste the salt that some of the other Unilocal reviewers noticed; perhaps the bakery has taken note of this and changed their recipe. I will definitely be back for the Totoro bun!

So glad to have found this little gem in Sydney Chinatown. The mango danish is delectable: flaky, not too sweet, topped with fresh mango — I unequivocally recommend it. I also really loved my green tea melon pan… so much so we went back right after finishing it. Bread is discounted about 30% after/around 8pm! They sell a variety of Japanese milk and green teas in their fridge, too.

This is a good place to stop for dessert. I would try the chocolate rolls, taro bean-flavored rolls, or red bean flavored rolls. If I had any wish, it would be dial back the salt a bit. A little more moisture or air in the bread would be nice. Overall, I like this place because the cashier processed my order quickly without any fuss. I felt like I was in and out quick.

Fuji Pan is a newly opened Japanese bakery owned by the same people who operate Fujiya Japanese restaurant on Level 1. I actually walked past this little bakery on Goulburn St on my way to Chatime and couldn’t resist the perfectly baked goods on display in the window. In line with Japanese hospitality I was greeted with a cheerful irashaimase and the girls in there were so helpful in choosing the yummiest bun on display. I bought a sausage in a bun and a custard bun. The former was actually really salty for some reason and the bun was quite firm(haha). The custard bun was not bad, but to tell you the truth I prefer breadtop. I might give this place another go perhaps in the morning because the baked goods were quite average as I bought them in the early evening.
