Okay. Yesterday we had the smoked pork belly and their key dish pandan pancake. Before going to the dish i will have to say the café is located in a gem location, hard to find but its quite worth it. Its inside sydney cbd yet peaceful. I did felt like abit of NewYorkers. 4.5 stars for atmosphere. Foodwise, i thought i should order their pork dish since it is blaq pig. So we pick the pork belly, Unfortunately, it is very rich and quite porky with pickled eadish which is not my fav. The dressing i guess doesnt match the porky flavor and the plating was messy(did tried to take few picture from different angle). 2 stars. Second dish –pandan pancake. 1 word, great. Give it a try and flavor speak diffe3nt language. Beautifully dressed, not too sweet, and come with some fruits & black sugar to balance the pandan flavor. 4stars. Overall it is 3.5 star because i had the coffee and it was pretty good. Goodluck Blaq Pig

This is my first full visit to Blaq Piq in CBD/Surry Hills after being turned away one Saturday due to there being no spare tables and the staff wanting to go home. I have given them every chance to redeem themselves but I am still left wanting… — food coming before the coffee is a sign of how slow things are at this café, and there is a half full floor space so no excuses this Tuesday morning. — un-rendered bacon fat is always an unpleasant eating experience. It means that even after you cut the edge fat you are going to consume soft, raw fat from the inner parts of the rasher = gross. — undercooked egg leads to ultimate stickiness, totally unnecessary(it’s a handheld bun!). — probably the worst part is the wet-dog smelling plate that the bacon and egg bun sits upon. The odour cannot be ignored the moment it hits the table. They seriously need to clean their dishwasher or rinse their plates of egg before washing, cause this smell is unbearable while eating. Positives: — it’s nice to look at a tree outside blowing in the wind while I wait —(that’s it I think… sounds like I am being a nark but I assure u I did wake up on the correct side this morning)

Commenting on my review of Lawsons Records, in which I declared that I was looking for ‘Fat Belly Jones’, Just A indelicately pointed out that I was ‘two thirds there’. Cruel that woman. I do have a soft spot for a good brekky though, where you can get a very good cup of coffee, a seat,(sorry Café Cre Asion), and a well priced well cooked brekky. Blaq Piq had a special today — scrambled eggs with grana padano and basil on muffins and a coffee for ten bucks. Perfect scrambled eggs, beautiful coffee, pink Himalaya salt on the table and panella instead of sugar. Super fast service and a very cool spot. No doubt Justy will make something out of my concession about a soft spot. Do your worst snake hips!

Cute, simple, modern and clean. This place is at the corner of a very small street. I was mapping it and thought I was going to end up in some kind of random alley! But hurrah I finally found it! I found the prices to be a little pricier than normal but they provide very good quality food. They spend a lot of time putting in the small details when garnishing the plates. I had to order the pandan buttermilk pancakes. It seems like the most popular thing to order on this menu. The pancakes were $ 16. The pandan pancakes came with a really yummy scoop of coconut icecream topped with fresh berries, pecans and a little bowl of salted coconut sugar syrup. The combination of the fruits and pancakes tasted really good. You can really taste the pandan in it! But just so you know, it does get overly sweet afterwards especially if you’re having it as a meal. Next time, I would order it as a dessert sharing between two people to offset the sweetness and order an actual savoury dish to start. Super cute place to go for a small meal, brunch or a good catch up date spot :)

Cute little café tucked away in Surry Hills. My colleagues and I came here to try their famous pandan pancakes. The atmosphere was relaxed, the décor was youthful and modern. Staff were friendly and service times were reasonable. Prices are to be expected in this neck of the woods. The pandan pancakes were very delicious and portion sizes Some other favourites in my group were the porkbelly, the dish with the black sausage and the avocado and prosciutto salad.

Tucked away in a hidden laneway in the CBD, Blaq Pig has all the DNA of a cool café. This bright indoor-outdoor café with plenty of natural lights, unique lighting fixtures falling from the ceiling and modern interior made a great first impression. Lemindau, the owner of the café is very hands on around the kitchen and on the floor serving clients. I had the Wagyu Corned Beef with Watercress, pan fried 63C eggs and hollandaise sauce in Lotus Buns and they were amazing! The eggs were perfectly runny and the buns were soft and fluffy. They look small as there were only 2 tiny buns per serve, but I was full halfway eating those buns. Their coffees were good too, but coffees you can find in every other cafes. Instead, get their Matcha Latte. Mmmmmm… Matcha Latte… Aaarrghhh… !! My group and I can’t stop complementing on how good the food was. I walked away smiling as I was already dreaming of my next visit. And in that dream I was trying their Pandan Buttermilk Pancakes! Sweet!

To the Blaq Piq team: Wow and well done. Super friendly, great atmosphere, beautiful décor(love the minimalist pig bum logo ;)), good coffee, and fantastic food. 63 degree eggs were phenomenal. We had the twice cooked pork belly and breakfast plate, and both were amazing. The devil is in the fine details and these guys get them right. Pickled vegetables, edible flowers, marinated goat cheese, smoked salmon. I’m definitely visiting again, this time to try the pandan pancakes(it beckons to the Filipino side of me) and green tea latte. Will also be telling friends that they have been living in vain if they do not try this place out!

I’ve gotten my morning coffee from the Blaq Pig every weekday morning since they opened a few weeks back. The owners are the same crew from Le Monde Café in Surry Hills, so they have a track record of success. It’s seriously good coffee. Every morning, owner Lem makes my long black with exactly 23 grams of coffee grounds. How do I know that? Because he has a scale next to the grinder where he weighs the grounds before he makes every cup. There’s a little board in front of the coffee bar that says where the day’s coffee came from. These guys are serious about their coffee. And the guys are nice, too. They take the time to know their regulars by name, what they do, where they came from, where they’re headed for holiday next, and what they did last weekend. Theses are genuinely great people. Haven’t had the food yet, but based on the weekday crowds that they’re pulling within a short time of opening, it must be good!

Super friendly and relaxed café with an interesting menu, good coffee, and lovely sunny courtyard. My new favourite weekend brunch venue. Have the Reuben special if you can — juicy hunks of corned Wagu beef in a soft bun with all the usual suspects. Delish.

have been waiting for this café to open near my office. tried it on the first day it opened. cant help to smile when you are greeted by the friendly staff in the morning, menu is very interesting. tried the pandan pancake with coconut ice cream and some other goodness, so fluffy and had an amazing fragrant. it is also not sickly sweet which is very nice. their coffee is also very good. will definitely come back to try other stuff on the menu
