Bathers Pavilion Restaurant

Balmoral Beach is so nice it would probably make an old wooden shack look like an old hipster fish and chips shop. My point is that the Bathers Pavilion is a nice but not extraordinary watch in the world’s most impressive feat of packaging.
I’m guessing you got the gist of where I’m heading so I’ll stop there.
The venue itself is nice, a mix of wood and stone with a colourful decoration and a terrific view. Some potential is wasted in my view by the classic style in which the place was decorated, it could be so much more!
Now before you get too far and stop reading, I recommend it: Balmoral Beach, sun, a good looking crowd and good food — some of it very good such as the blood sausage.
The negativity at the start probably comes from the fact that I don’t like opportunities not living out to their full potential but it remains one of the nicest setup for a brunch in that area and you should definitely go!

Are you looking for a great view? Where the ambiance is prefect? Where you can sit right on the beach to have your coffee, without getting sand anywhere? If so, then ignore this review — if all you care about is the atmosphere then this is a 5 out of 5 place, and you should be running here as if you are in a zombie movie, and you are trying to outrun your more weightier friend. However, if you are like me and all you care about on a Saturday morning is great coffee and a breakfast that makes you grateful that you did not sleep in, then this place is not for you — at best I would define the food here as average.
With all the reviewers before me I was expecting a really good food experience. When I first walked in here and saw the view — I was thinking to myself, «wow, this place has everything!» But no, it doesn’t. Great view, average food. The food here is what you would expect for any café, however, you are going to be paying a lot more for it. Still — the view!
The coffee is brewed from Grounds beans. And it is not a bad cup, but honestly nothing to get overly excited about. Now, this is the only café that I have been to in Balmoral, so I’m not sure if this is the best cup or not? But from the cafes on other near-​by beaches I was slightly disappointed. When I brought this up to the company I was with, I was reminded of the view.
So I know that everyone else who has reviewed this place is going to kill me — but other than the view, I honestly think that there is no reason to come here. I was going to give this 2-​stars, but my friend told me that he would defriend me, for the view alone was worth 3 stars. So there you have it — 3 stars for the view.

Flawless — food was spectacular and service sublime. Each meal was delicious and a completely new experience. Perfect place for a special occasion and the setting complements perfectly.

Our cousins took us to the balmoral beach for lunch ! And it was amazing ! The view was awesome !!! Started with a fig n cheese plate and then off to some mussels and lamb and finished off w prosciutto pizza ! Yummy

Now been here for dinner again. Elegant and very high level modern Australian cuisine across a range of proteins. Solid wine list and not too overpriced as is so common in Sydney restaurant — but you need to choose carefully. Good is innovatively conceived. Chef Serge is pretty famous; we ran into him (or rather ate at a restaurant where he was guest «cheffing») in Shanghai earlier this year.

Bathers Pavilion is an absolutely lovely restaurant and café. You can’t beat the atmosphere and stunning view, in a quaint part of town. The food was fresh and delicious– we each had oysters as an entrée and the Barramundi for a main. Highly recommend both.
However, the service left a lot to be desired. We went on a slower evening and had to remind our waitress several times for luxuries like… cutlery…while our food went cold. My dining partner ordered a wine and was finished with her meal before she ever received it.
I would also suggest reservations.

Beautiful location but seems more about the look of the food and the unusual ingredients than about the taste. My fish was watery and smothered in a sauce which disguised any taste and about 4 different types of caviar that were not needed. Meals and wine VERY pricey — would have preferred a casual meal next door in the café. But hey if you want to be seen, and a celebrity chef (who is actually never there) is important to you — then apparently this is the place to be

simply stunning from the menu to the location, with a high end and low key dinning this place has it all the food is great and the service you get there is top notch. The breakfast is wonderful. Another goto place of mine and I hope many others when they read this :)

Bathers Pavilion is a Balmoral Instiution. Comprised of three parts — Café, Resturant, Kiosk — Bathers offers you the chance to be as sophisticated or low key as you like. Personally I think the Café is the pick of the three. If you’re lucky you’ll get a couch or a table at one of the huge windows that looks out to Middle Harbour. The atmosphere is casual chic — it has a sort of Ralph Lauren vibe about it. The Café is open all day everyday for breakfast, lunch, dinner and anything in between. I recently met my family here for breakfast and although we had to wait for twenty odd minutes to get a table (no bookings!) we were seated at a window which conducive to a relaxed Sunday morning. The breakfast menu is extensive which makes it hard to choose but eventually I settled with an Open Omelette with rocket, capsicum, chorizo and avocado ($ 22). It was delicious! I’ll be back to Bathers without a doubt.

As with the more casual Bathers Pavilion Café, This is one to take the ‘out-​of-​towners’ to show them the very best of this suburb. The Bathers Pavilion is an impressive blanched white structure that dominates the North end of Balmoral Beach. Whatever time of day or night; whatever season, I always feel privileged to be sat in this magnificent restaurant breathing in the view.
The atmosphere feels formal and there’s quite a heavy sense of occasion that belies the bright atmosphere. It’s a very different experience to the laid back café and it’s not a place that I would dine at lightly.
There’s a satisfied sense in the air that we are the lucky ones to be able to have such fine experiences.
Whenever I have been the dining room there has been an almost stately hush to it. It feels necessary to whisper, not to show any vulgarity by speaking above a rarefied tone. I find it a bit heavy going to be honest.
Serge Dansereau dishes up European influenced artworks that command respect. The food is welter weight. Dense, rich, robust.
We sent my in-​laws here for lunch one day and they declared it to be one of the best dining experiences of their lives. I can well believe it. To be experienced.
Lunch: Monday to Sunday from Midday
Dinner: Monday to Sunday from 6.30pm

The Bather’s Pavilion is a restaurant, café and a popular spot for weddings, receptions and other events.
I was at the café for breakfast, a very popular weekend treat for lower north-​shore Sydneysiders. We had a sunny table right by the window, looking out at people walking their dogs up and down the beach esplanade. We arrived about 10am and had to wait 5 min for a table for two.
I ordered Serge’s oven baked beans with smoked ham hock and sourdough, for $ 20. It defeated me; I could not finish it all. The beans were incredible, rich and flavourful. The chunks of smoked ham were very substantial. It was also chock full of sweet roasted onions.
Top spot for a special brunch once in a while.
