Boy do these guys look happy to be working there… Not! You need a high-vis shirt for them to see you’re infront of their noses. Very greasey food, but hamburgers are not something you want to order here.

I have an illustrious life long ambition. It’s to work in a dinkum Aussie fish and chip shop. Oh, and to live the dream while grape picking down south. Both of these dreams fill my mind with fun and fanciful ideas of joyful adventures. But, I have a feeling, for both of them, that reality would pretty briskly set in and I would probably promptly quit. But you never know. I might love the jaunts and truly live the dream. Now, if I could have my pick of fantastic fish and chip shops to work in I would choose Morrison Road Fish Bar. It sounds a bit posh but, trust me, it’s not. This Swan View staple is situated at the very non-posh Darling Ridge Shopping Centre. The reason it takes my fancy is because it encapsulates all things ‘Aussie fish and chip shop’. These shops are so ingrained in our culture it’s easy to forget the faded placky chairs, the tatty and troubled looking tiled floor and the often sparse yet always inviting drinks fridge can be seen to personify this sun burnt country. Morrison Road Fish Bar is a little bit like the above description and I love it. I think it might be a family run business and the nosh is always bloody beautiful. I love the pineapple fritters and the chips and snapper are always cooked just right. They also do grilled fish here, which is quite nice, but not the stuff of a traditional Aussie Friday night feast.
