I have mixed feelings about my Mr India experience. Someone had told me that they would go back there for the burgers. I was skeptical. I’ve never had the Indian food there. Something about warming trays of curry turns me off. I’m aware curries need to be made many hours in advance and get some good simmering time, but I’ve never been fond of warming trays. Walking by the shop today we noticed they had Prego Sauce on the menu — something sadly lacking at the other shops nearby. It got off to a rough start as I repeated various aspects of my order a few times(2 hot Portuguese burger meals, 2 sides of prego sauce). Part of the process went something like this: «regular or large burgers?» «I guess large» «Regular?» “sure” “Chili on one?” «On both please» «And 2 sides of Prego» When I was handed my bag I saw there were no sides of prego, when I followed up I was told the prego sauce was on the burgers. The guy apologized and gave me a side. Firstly, the chips here are amazeballs. They were crunchy and salty and delicious. The prego sauce was quite good as well. The burger was okay. The chicken was too floppy and there wasn’t much chili. What chili there was was uneven and overpowered by the unwanted prego sauce that had been slopped on. I managed to scrape most of the prego off, but this resulted in a loss of lettuce. The cheese was stronger than other burgers, but overall the burger was okay. Final verdict: I’d go back for the chips and prego. If Spitroast down the road was shut, I might even grab the burger again — but I’d ask for double chili.
