3.5 stars Cute place this Strawberry X Café is! I’ve only had a fresh juice that was delivered with friendly service while meeting up with some mates to get our personal projects done. What I like about it are the big tables and its reachable proximity to the powerpoints. I know, weird things to look out for when you’re working from a café. There’s ample lighting coming in and it’s refreshing to come here! They’ve also got free Wi-Fi that you can access. Wish that they were opened for the weekend and later hours, but hey, it’s still good to go to.

We stayed at the Sebel hotel in Surry Hills and had missed out on the buffet breakfast there by five minutes. Seeing as we had no choice, we had to leave to find someplace else to eat. It may have been a fortunate thing that we did miss out because we found this lovely café right next door. From the moment we walked in we were welcomed with a big smile and a hello from the owner/manager who seemed genuinely friendly rather than being just a morning person. We had great service from him, he was friendly, chatty, and treated all the customers really well. It really brightened up our morning. The place is furnished with dark woods and bright splashes of red around the place — the décor is quite quirky and I just love how they have bigger tables with enough elbow room to really enjoy your meal. Food was marvellous — I ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benedict on sourdough bread — the owner/manager pointed out that it was his favourite too so I knew I was in good hands. Loved pretty much everything about this place — it changed my mood immediately after ‘missing out’ at the Sebel.

X marks the spot. Every time you walk in Strawberry X we’ve been greeted with a warm greeting from the owner/manager who makes it a point to create a warm atmosphere in the bigger than average café. The takeaway business is busy weekday mornings, but if your not too pressed for time there’s plenty of space to sit down and enjoy your coffee and breakfast. The food and coffee are always solid and we’d rather be eating here than at Toast around the corner. They also have free WiFi via UConnect which makes it perfect for a quick bite to eat while you browse the internet and send off a couple of emails. It’s an easy answer to the busy breakfast and lunch rush.
