In 2016, a crack commando unit was sent to jail by a military court for a crimes against chicken that they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Surry Hills underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as chefs of fortune. If you have a problem and are hungry, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire… The Pablo’s A-Team. It doesn’t take a B. A to realise this chicken here is modern art. The chips are to be devoured like HANNIBAL Lecter devours his victims. The chip mayo will always leave a smile on your FACE and you’d be HOWLINMAD to pick any other chicken joint in Surry Hills. You don’t even need to get on no plane fool! As I stuffed a few more chips into my already full stomach, I looked into the distance and thought, I love it when a plan comes together. These guys rock.

Awwww yisss nothing like a neighbourhood charcoal chicken shop!!! I got a half chicken for $ 8.50. I then made the mistake of ordering a medium chips on top for $ 6.50 more. Tender and juicy, and chargrilled just right this chicken is the bomb. The chips… I did not need medium chips, it’s far too big. The chips could be better though, but nothing wrong here. Stick to the small chips if you want a combo, it’s only $ 11.50. I’d be keen to try their other sides and their ribs… they also look delicious. Everything comes wrapped in paper to show you how oily it is. If there’s one thing you need to get here it’s their Dutch Mayo… it’s out of this world.

Genuine nice people that make the food which tastes delicious. The chicken is superb and one of the best in the city. Perfect if you don’t want too cook and just feel like chicken. They also do burgers which are decent, but nothing compared too the charcoal chicken. They pack everything in paper which somehow makes it taste even better.

Finally found a decent chicken shop close to the city and the most important thing, it’s charcoal chicken! The service here is also good, the guys are engaging and friendly. The chickens are well cooked without being burnt and the charcoal scent is subtle and not in your face like the current charcoal chicken with garlic sauce craze in western Sydney. They have a family meal for $ 30 — which could be considered expensive, but you get a whole chook, decent serving of chips and a choice of salad. This is however a fresh hearty meal for the whole family. To go with your chook, they have a good range of salads and also roasted veges and everything looked fresh. The chips with chicken salt are a throwback to the old days as they are served up wrapped in butcher paper — not many places still do it like this. Visually the most impressive thing about this place is how shiny they keep their stainless steel kitchen, I have never seen any suburban chicken shop look this shiny! Apparently this place is very popular during the day for their burger and chicken & mayo rolls. I will however return to try their charcoal grilled ribs, that should be awesome!

Forget Nandos. This is where you you want to go if you’re in Surry Hills and you feel like a bit of grilled chicken. Catering mainly for take away business you can also eat in if one of the stools at the 2 side bars is available. It seems like a family business and you’re always welcomed with a smile and some friendly chat. Whats most impressive is the good value and generous portion sizes. There is a permanent special of $ 10 for a half chicken and chips. I defy you to find a better deal. The portugese burger is delicious too and big enough to not need a side. There is also a selection of lovely fresh salads that come in 3 sizes. My fav meal is the quarter chicken and a small salad(you can choose as many different varieties as the size will take). I eat here regularly and have always had a good experience. Highly recommended.
