Great tasting authentic food, especially the signature dish Chirashi Sushi, so refreshing on a warm day. Usually very crowded so always book ahead for dinner.
However they definitely need to improve their takeaway procedure. I ordered a chicken katsu curry don but when I got home, I realized they forgot the chicken. :(
Their disorganized confusion cost them 1 star from me.

Amimoto is a hole-​in-​the wall type place with great quality Japanese food at reasonable prices. At lunchtime they offer a daily $ 5.50 special — anything from sashimi to a katsu (cutlet) and rice.
Main meals vary between $ 9 and $ 16 for most dishes including terriyaki chicken, Japanese curry and chicken or pork katsudon.
Although the food is awesome, the décor is cheap & cheerful — so probably not the best destination if you’re looking to impress a date. They are also not licensed, so your drink choices are limited to softdrinks and green tea. The staff are always friendly and attentitive — great service, great prices. I’ll definitely be back!

The sushi here is the the best on the Gold Coast. Only having 1 Sushi chef means the quality of the food is exactly the same every single time. All orders are made fresh and the prices are so good you will think they’ve made a mistake with your bill! I cannot recommended this place enough. If you love Japanese, you’ll find a new favorite in Amimoto!
TIP — If you’re short on time, they have a $ 6.50 set that includes sushi and a miso soup that you can take away for a quick lunch ^_^
