We ate at Little Hong Kong based on the rave reviews I read on Unilocal.Perhaps the number of 5-star reviews raised my expectations too highly. My only purpose in posting a review is to provide others with an unbiased guide. On the evening that we chose to eat here, although the food was plentiful, it did not meet a 4 or 5 star level. We both selected the house specialties of various barbecued meats served with several Asian green vegetables, one meal with dry noodles and the other with rice. Unfortunately the food on one plate was lukewarm when it arrived, only 5 – 10 minutes after we ordered, not what I would have expected from freshly prepared food. This made the fattier sections of the pork less palatable and we both left uneaten food on our plates. The service was friendly enough but the décor was a little tired, with a pile of cardboard boxes and other clutter piled near the condiments, just inside the entrance in plain view of the diners. An earlier review mentioned stools for seating. That seems to have changed. We sat on banque seating that extended along one entire wall. There were also several tables with comfortable looking wooden chairs, plus several more tables outside on the verandah overlooking the car park. I might return to check whether we struck a bad night. It is interesting that several Unilocal reviewers have awarded 5-star ratings, while other restaurant review sites have not been so kind.

Meat, rice, noodles, affordable! What else do you want? Rocked up at 10pm hungry and got what I wanted. Just wish they refurbished the place and cleaned the window sills a bit.

I have always been meaning to try this place out; and it does not disappoint. Great flavours and I will certainly be back. Don’t forget to grab your dipping sauces from the waitress counter inside for your bbq meats etc.

The dried noodles with duck and pork or choice of one or three meats is delicious and succulent. I have visited this place a few times and found the food to be great quality for a good price. Plus, I love how I can always top up the accompanying condiments. While their service is somewhat not at par with what they can offer, I will just say that at the moment, their roasts and dry noodles keep me returning for more.

Pretty good food. Craving meat? Come here. They have rice, noodles and congee. The service is alright and it’s great for lunch or dinner. Have eaten here many times and have taken my parents here too. They liked it and are keen on coming back.

Let’s talk meat. Let’s talk about the different things that can happen to pork, chicken and duck flesh at the hands of an expert and let’s talk about the utter, utter disregard for dignity, reticence and self-denial essential to eating at this wonderful establishment. Little Hong Kong is part of the ‘Little’ chain also including Little Singapore and Little Nyonya. They’re all great and distinctive in their own rights and all worth a visit, especially Little Nyonya if you’re unfamiliar with this distinctive Chinese cuisine. This is a five star review not because this is the finest HK cuisine you will ever find, but because it is a small, targeted menu that knows what it’s doing and executes a BBQ flawlessly. There are a huge range of dishes that are pretty standard like ho-fun, wonton soups and a range of stir fries and spring rolls etc, but forget them. They’re fine, they’re nicer than most but they are available pretty much universally and are pretty indistinct from any number of the approximately 10,764 restaurants in Sunnybank. You, my wise friend, are either here for the BBQ or you are here to miss opportunities. The meats are pork, chicken and duck. The pork is done as crispy belly roast or char sui barbecue, the duck is either roast or teow chew BBQ(slightly sweeter than standard plus some other differences an expert could probably explain) and chicken is wine and soy or golden roast. Every single one of these is perfect, moreish and dazzling. The simplest way to order is to order one-three of these meats with dry noodle which is a soy braised thin egg noodle, steamed rice or as a soup. Simple, done, go nuts and really really enjoy it. They’ve got a tonne of condiments and about four kinds of chilli sauce which keeps me happy. As with many of these spots the more people the more fun the more things you can order, their fried rice is nice and their greens and oyster sauce(always a favourite of mine) is lovely. You can also order any of the meats to take away by the kilo or half kilo which is something to bear in mind if you’re ever after something to go with afternoon drinks or a party at home. They are far superior to the Burlington butchery around the corner, which is no slouch in its own right. I love this area, there are so many incredible places and this is one of the finest.

I’ve never been to this place when it’s not chockablock. And there’s a good reason for that… it has god tier crispy pork belly and char siu. Once you eat here, it becomes the touchstone by which you judge all other Hong Kong style eateries.

The main thing that you need to know about Little Hong Kong is that whenever I get a roast duck and crackling roast pork craving, I actually drive all the way over there from the Gold Coast. It’s that good. In fact, all the Chinese-style roasted meats are fantastic and worthy of a trip out of your way to sample. Their congee and noodles are pretty bloody good too. The portion sizes are enormous for the price, and honestly most people could order one dish for lunch, eat half and take the rest home for dinner. No problem. It gets a little crazy in there during peak eating times, but turnover is fast. It’s typical Asian service; you arrive, sit, eat, and leave, no fuss.

OMG! I think I just went to Asian Heaven. Though I have to tell you, I was totally unprepared for this as we drove into the car park of this suburban shopping centre. But we were assured by a local foodie who lived in Hong Kong for almost a year that this place had THE most delicious crispy pork belly! So I walked in expecting to have something good. OK so it’s not the most glamorous place. The seating is not so great — we were given a table outside(which was on their verandah) and two square laminated tables pushed together and given a bunch of backless stools that the fast-turn around eateries go for these days — so you don’t get too comfy. These stools looked like they were once quite beautiful, but now looked very tired, overused and sat on a year or two past their use by date — cracked with bits missing from the tops — the sort that feel like they’d pinch your bum if you moved a certain way. One of our party who dressed up for dinner felt a little overdressed — but the rest of us made the right choice to go casually dressed. We opened out BYO wine and were offered not glasses but instead paper take-away coffee cups. Fine! We happily went along for the fun ride. We ordered five main meals, a soup and four rice bowls and very quickly it all came to our table. The prawn dumpling soup was awesome — so delicate, the soy chicken and roast duck so tender and perfectly moist. Even the fried rice was great. All seven of us stuffed ourselves and the bill was $ 89. For a beautiful, fresh, authentic Hong Kong feast! But if you like great food that is soooooo cheap go to Little Hong Kong for the awesome authentic fresh food. We all LOVED it. And best of all — our foodie friend felt like the man with the great plan for taking us there.

This little gem is right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of Market Square in Sunnybank. One of those few little areas open late at night past the hour of 9pm. I had my favourite dry wonton noodle with a mixed bbq combination(roast duck, roast pork and char siu otherwise known as bbq pork). They do serve quite the authentic little dish, in a large portion. They have cute little tables and stools as well to sit on, managing to fit quite a few people into the little arena of a restaurant they have. Along with the BBQ meats, you can order congee’s(chinese porridge), deep fried durian desserts(mmmm durian, not for the faint hearted) and other rice dishes and noodle soups. If you play sports like I do and need a place to have a late night supper with your team mates or are out and about and hungry… check out Little Hong Kong. It’s a little taste of Chinatown away from the city… you can usually find a park late at night, but this place does keep busy. A note to those who are not that great at parking their cars in smaller spaces… go during the day… these drivers are crazy.

Little Hong Kong is the go to place for good Chinese BBQ. I’m talking about char sui, roast duck and crispy pork belly. They have a large menu from congee to E-Fu noodles but if the endless options confuse you, just choose the Little Hong Kong BBQ Mix(with two, three or four types of BBQ meat) There are also some unusual combinations such as duck tongue and jelly fish. It’s a delicious combination but I also like to chow down on tripe, chicken feet and giblets so take what I say with a degree of scepticism.
