Debra’s passion is to empower and inspire the most vulnerable in our society assisting those who care for them and work with them to change their perceptions of them, understand, accept and support them through challenging issues in ther lives so that they can aspire and work towards meaningful educational and social participation and achievement and a sense of well-​being. She specialises in assisting children, young people and adults with attachment difficulties and complex trauma histories. Debra’s services include counselling, educational, social, emotional and behavioural assessment, report writing for Child Protections and Educational contexts and intervention planning. Her work focuses on assisting people to develop more effective skills, build better relationships, and improve their well-​being, and includes:

* Self-​management skills.

* Communication skills.

* Building resilience.

* Overcoming old habits or behaviours which affect well-​being and performance.

History

Established in 2004.

Prior to establishing her own business, Debra worked in residential settings for cared for children, schools as a classroom teacher, Head of Special Education Services (Singapore) and as an Educational Psychologist (UK)/ Guidance Counsellor (Brisbane Catholic Education) Guidance Officer (Education Queensland). She spent 3 years as a full time University lecturer at the Australian Catholic Univerisity and has also written and delivered courses on child protection, developmental and educational issues at the National University of Singapore, Griffith University and the University of Queensland. Debra also acts as an Expert Witness on Family and Child Protection Matters at the Family Court of Australia. She is currently an Accredited Supervising Psychologist, an Associate Supervisior for a PhD Candidate and a Supervisor for Postgraduate Psychology Students. Debra is registered for Medicare and ATAPS referrals from GP’s and School Counsellors/​Psychologists.

Debra gained her Honours Degree in Psychology in 1983, her Postraduate Certificate in Education in 1985, her Masters Degree in Education in 1993. She returned to study for a Professional Masters in Educational Psychology at the University of Manchester and received her MSc in 2001. She is an active member of several professional associations including the Queensland College of Teachers, Australian Psychological Society, the College of Educational & Developmental Psychologists, the British Psychological Society (Chartered Status & Associate Fellow) Division of Educational and Child Psychologists and the Trauma Psychologists Interest Group.
