Decided to have a fifth birthday party here close to the date of the review. On arrival we were met by our hostess and given an explanation of what was to come. The front of house has a very large collection of Lego for the«child» in all of us and the back of house contains two rooms, one large room for hosting the party and another where the adults can have a sit down and catch up with other parents or check out their Facebook status on their iphones. The Lego Party room is huge. Brightly coloured drapes covering the walls, as well as posters of the different models of Lego both on the wall and hanging from the ceilings, give a very festive air to the whole room. Bring your camera! In the middle of the room is a large rectangular table that caters for about 20 kids. At the back of the room in separate containers and trays are enough Lego pieces to build the Taj Mahal of all Lego structures. It was a great 1.5 hours with even the children you would consider shy came around quickly and starting to immerse themselves in the creation of their own Lego masterpieces! A few games later and a lucky dip and kids all left with smiles on faces. All the kids(and even a few mums and dads) participated in building using Lego and enjoyed themselves. Best thing is that someone else has to find those little bits of Lego that invariably make their way into corners, under chairs and tabled etc. A great day all round, it was well catered and organised.

We just had our son’s 6th birthday party here on Saturday, 14 July 2012. I cannot praise this venue highly enough. Blow by blow description: * Initial phone contact was excellent and efficient, everything well explained and deposit taken. * Confirmation documents arrived a couple of days later with party invites enclosed, voucher for discount and extra food menu if required. * On day of party, friendly, welcoming staff and party room beautifully set up. The room size was excellent. * Two delightful party hosts who kept the kids entertained. * Parents who wanted to stay sat in the parents’ area at the back(which is conveniently located near the separate male/female toilet so you can see where your kid is going if they run out the room). * Complementary tea, coffee and water on a self-serve basis for parents. * Any siblings who came who were too young to play with the teeny bits of Lego were given Duplo to keep them amused. * The party went beautifully and all the parents remarked how it was so quiet, how the kids were so entertained and nobody was bored. * We forgot our candles(parents of the year!) and the manager quickly organised either number 6 or six candles without the slightest hesitation. * They were right when they told me not to bother bringing extra food: the kids were too busy having fun to eat much. But they kids were happy with the food provided(lollies, chips, cordial and water). * I brought my own cake(but you can get one through Laygo if you want) and they supplied all the plates, etc. * Party bags are also included and although I brought my own(just in case, sometimes party venues are hit and miss with party bags), the kids seemed delighted with Laygo’s party bags and were surprised to be given the extra from us. All in all, everyone agreed this was one of the best and most smoothly run parties they’d ever been to. The joy of it all is we left with everyone else. No mess, no fuss. As for price, well all up for 11 kids it cost around $ 260. We thought this was fabulous with what Laygo gave us(especially since it would have cost us half of that to get our carpets cleaned if we’d had it at home!) As for Jamie? He was over the moon and that, as we all know, is what Happy Birthday is all about. These guys at Laygo are doing it right! Great stuff.

All Lego fans should report here! Doubling as a shop and party venue, Laygo, easily accessible on South Road, promises hours of fun and delight. I hosted my son’s party here and I’ve never seen a bunch of kids more relaxed, composed and quiet in a party environment. Everyone was so immersed constructing Lego cars, towers and trucks. The party games were fantastic and kept everyone busy from drop off to pick up. I loved how every kid got a special Lego item during ‘Pass The Parcel’ game. No one was left out, and everyone got a special memento to take home. Party guests receive a party bag with lollies and one Lego character. Apart from parties, they host school holiday activities, corporate events and more! The shop has a beautiful stock of Lego, carrying themes from Harry Potter, Star Wars, Ninjago… you get the drift I’m sure. Laygo gets my thumbs up, will definitely be back for more Laygo fun!
