Even with the very limited options on the UQ campus firmly in mind, there is just no reason to go to Burger Urge. Overpriced and underwhelming, often with a ridiculous wait-time as well: what’s to like? If you want to eat under the palm-trees at this location’s admittedly pleasant patio, grab a BLAT at Darwin’s next door, with which it shares the outdoor space. And if you really need a burger, walk over to the Red Room for a burger just as good(which is to say, no more than all right) at half the price.

It’s one of the more-popular Brisbane burger chains and has its devotees. Located on campus with a good outdoors seating area and a liquor license, adjacent to a good café. There’s not an awful lot to say about the quality of the food(it’s good, but not outstanding), it’s fairly pricey(you’ll get better value burgers at Darwins or Genies, but they don’t have the variety of burger options), and the staff are friendly. I’d recommend the onion rings though — they’re the stand out option here. The main selling point here(as mentioned in my review for Darwins) is that it shares outdoor seating space with the adjoining café. If you’re with a group, this makes it a fantastic option on-campus — you have effectively two menus available so you can cover the ‘I just want a burger’ types as well as the ‘mmm, salads!’ crowd.

Australia, how can you let me down??? I will say that AUS definitely knows how to meats but Burger Urge really misses the mark when it comes to a classic dish. The location is great for uni student as it is right by the Bio Science library and next to Darwins with a great outdoor area where there is always ample seating throughout. The menu is pretty straight forward with a range of burgers, sandwiches, and side items. I opted for their«Babe and Daisy» burger which btw does not come with fries but has to be a separate item. The order was pretty fast, and it all looked absolutely delicious. When I bit into it though, I definitely noticed the different type of meat. I know I’m in a foreign country but what happened to the classic beef flavor? It had this peppery, semi-bland taste. It really took over the burger and no amount of tomato sauce could hide it. I was disappointed. The only that really saved the meal was their promotion for 2−4−1 when my friend and I split the cost of 2 burgers for one.

Burger Urge is the perfect place to enjoy a nice burger. The variety and quality of the burgers makes it a must when you have the urge to bite some meat and chips. I especially liked the chips dipped in the mayo, with a nice fresh coke. The least expensive menu costs about 17 $, more complex burger meals will cost more, till 25 $. It’s not a cheap place to eat a burger, but once you’ll have paid, you won’t regret it. The location is perfect for student who are studying in the close libraries and want to have a beefy break. Go there and satisfy your urge! Cheers

I’ve been seriously on a burger rampage. Lani told me that I needed to try the big burger joints here in town: Grill’d, Beastie Burger, and Burger Urge. I have eaten all three in less than three weeks. Probably not the best diet for my body but I think that I have chosen a favorite among this first go around and Burger Urge came up short. Obviously, there are tons of burgers to choose from so that may have been a factor this time around. Today, my friends and I tried Burger Urge for the first time. I had the red hot chili pepper burger with sweet potato fries. They let you choose between white or whole wheat buns. I ordered the whole wheat and thought the buns were quite plain. The burger was nice but didn’t WOW me. It was not spicy either. I didn’t like how my slice of cheese was not melted on the burger. The sweet potato fries were good but could have used a dash of salt. I wasn’t a big fan when they asked if I wanted to pay more for sauce. It should come with a little sauce. I understand if you want to charge more if I ask for more but other places didn’t charge me for sauce. Good alternative place on campus to eat than just the food court. For $ 16, I wouldn’t come back here on a regular basis. It’s good, just not great.

Great food. It’s a little expensive but it is gourmet ingredients. Takeaway style service. Nice atmosphere. Short wait time for what you get. If you go to UQ check this out if you’re craving a burger, it’s worth the walk.

This place is situated behind the Bioscience library, away from most of the other catering locations, on the Chancellor’s Place end of the campus just past the Michie building and the Art Gallery. It’s next door to Darwin’s Café. The burgers are fine, but they are not as good as the ones you get at Grill’d. However they are nice, if you like them drenched in mayonnaise or runny relish. Tends to get messy. The big let down however is the chips(fries for yanks) — they suck. Another let down is the drink selection is awful … restaurants really ought to learn that offering a selection of Pepsi or Coke and their related brands(Fanta etc) just is not acceptable in this day and age. The drink selection is very poor — if it was better, I would forgive the chips and relish drenching and I might award it four stars. They really ought to get a liquor licence and run the big outdoor area as a nice outdoor bar/beer garden on Thursday/Friday nights. With no pubs nearby, UQ desperately needs better bars, especially ones not overrun with undergraduates. A burger and beer outdoor bar would be perfect. Outside of semester, check before going to dinner or on weekends to see if its open. Because it’s on campus. if you have an eduroam account, you’ve got free wi-fi.

My Cheese Louise was fresh and succulent if you can use that word to describe a burger. I waited 5 minutes for my lunch to arrive and I would have waited longer because it was everything I had imagined it would be. The burger bun was wholemeal(yay for low GI) and the patty was cooked with that little crisp on the side, the guys here really know how to flip their burger right. They have a cool atmosphere with a bit of pop music playing for ambiance and you will find students here catching up or studying or just playing with their various WiFi devices. I am a big fan of this place, and will definitely be back. Be warned though, there are times where the place is a little bit more crowded and the wait for your burger will have to take longer… but don’t worry, there is a Unilocaling light at the end of the tunnel, you won’t be disappointed.

Burger Urge is tucked away in a corner underneath The University of Queensland Biology Library(a library which no longer holds any books), in what was once a refectory. Swapping the remains of the refectory, with it’s soggy over-buttered sandwiches and undifferentiable curries, was a blessing upon those who have to frequent the university. The location is small, but well fitted out, and the staff are all very friendly albeit inexperienced. There are some quite obvious but excusable opening week jitters, there were no credit card or EFTPOS facilities and the chips, both sweet and regular potato, were not up to the usual Burger Urge standard. The focus though is, and should be, the burgers. Burge Urge has what are without a doubt the best burgers to be bought in Brisbane. Whilst this isn’t a hard task, it is something that has taken a while to happen. The meat is juicy without being soggy, and is very flavourful. The lamb burgers are clearly lamb, which is something that is often a problem at competing outlets(looking at you Grill’d). The patties, whilst probably not 100% meat, are not burdened by fillers such as bread or onion(looking at you Purple Gorilla). The toppings are expertly balanced with none overpowering the others. A good decent burger that is worth the cost and the wait.
