It’s more humble in décor than its neighbours: The Wooden Whisk, the Moody Chef, and the many cafes on Willoughby Road. But where the others can be hit-and-miss, Caffe Nostra is a consistently and genuinely lovely establishment. All the food and baked goods are fresh and housemade. They have excellent healthy options. And the staff are friendly and attentive. I just moved to the area a few months ago and have been trying various cafes out. The ambience of the other places is a draw, but as I settle down, I’m realizing more that Caffe Nostra has the«special something» these other places don’t. It’s fast becoming my go-to place during the day. My only problem is that I feel many of the eat-in options are a little pricey and that the lunch selection could be wider. That’s the only thing.

From the outside you wouldn’t really rate this place as it looks like your typical lunch bar. I stumbled across it as it is next to my physio. The. coffee here is pretty good but the food is great. The owner makes most of it herself and it is truly delicious. She makes all the muffins herself and also other treats like lamingtons and wheat free chocolate cake. I am a bit of a muffin expert and rate hers top 5 of the cafes around Nth Sydney. Food is reasonably priced and good portions. Had the Bircher muesli the other day and it was exceptional. Full of fresh fruit and huge. For 12.50 could easily have fed 2. I would like to rate this place 3.5 stars.

I am new to the area, just moved from the United States. With a baby and food sensitivities I am looking for places which serve some organic, glutein free, dairy free items, so Caffe Nostra caught my attention with their organic coffee and glutein free pie selections. I have tried their soups and pies so far and they are some of the best I have ever had! I have seen they prepare most(if not all) of their food in-house, and you can truly taste how fresh it is. My husband tried their beef w/pasta and lamb biryani, both were great. I also appreciate that the chef is usually right there to answer any questions about the ingredients(glutein/dairy) and he usually has dairy free alternative of some of the dishes for the day. I will be definitely back for more!

New owners have taken over and what a refreshing change. Now run by a mother and son, the food is delightful and they serve proper meals not the mismatch as prior. The son is a chef so you get beautifully made lasagne and other exquisite delicacies. If you go early in the morning you can buy delicious muffins which you can pair with equally delicious coffee. They are on the ground floor underneath an insurance company and the only café in the area. You have to walk uphill if you want to get somewhere else, but who would want to. Mum is very happy, although its early days yet, you never know when the early mornings will start to get to her. It’s fantastic home cooking at its best.
