I came here on a Friday night for a group event and was surprised that it did not fill up as the night went on. Not sure if it was a slow night or common with this bar. Either way, I had a great time. Bar had $ 6 and $ 7 drink specials all night. Their selection on tap was limited to one beer and one cider. Ouch. Other than that the spirits were strong pours and bar staff were friendly and unpretentious. I did not try the food as they had an agreement for the large group to bring in pizzas from another place. Surprising if that was on their normal menu. DJ was spinning all night with a great set list. We were jamming to 90s hits for the theme but there was a lot of EDM and top 40 mixed in. The space itself is a decent size with couches and seating around the dance floor so you can easily sit back or partake in the fun. Bathrooms are upstairs and men/women share, so don’t be surprised when you see the opposite sex at the sink. There is also a smokers room upstairs. Overall I struggled with this rating. Should be 3.5 with some room for improvement. However I have not been here during the day or tried the menu, so I am giving it and extra half star for good service, casual vibe and fun music. If you don’t want to wait in a queue to get in and get a decent drink, come here!

Got a groupon here for all you can eat pizza with drinks, and they sure meant all you can eat. Walked in to discover cushion has had a face lift, very nice indeed, the bar tender was super friendly, advising us what we could have in the way of drinks, bottle of wine thanks! He then asked if we liked wings, ahh hell yes we like wings, he offered us a sample of their new wings special on the house. SURE! Headed to the table, bottle of wine in hand, ready to check the menu, over the bar tender came with a dipping bowel and some napkins. The pizza list was not huge, about 6 different options but that is enough. We ordered 2 and as I got back to the table our wings arrived, sorry should I say our huge plate of wings arrived, 12 wings in total, they were scrum diddly umptious! I looked at the menu and discovered they were going for 8 bucks a serve, will totes be back for more. Small things like this is where venues get me, get me telling all my friends, going back, writing great reviews. It is the small things, the friendly service, making you feel welcome, it was not so much about the free wings, but the offer and the smile. It did help that the wings were amaze! Sorry back to the pizzas, in total we had about 6, piggies much I know, I also ordered 3 of the same pizza, wish I could remember the name. Had it not been for the fact it was a Tuesday we could of very easily settled in for a nice night, sipping wine and enjoying the atmoshphere

Not a bad little nigh spot, but if you’re expecting to have a quiet dinner with friends before the drinking starts, this is not the place. The volume button in Cushion Lounge is set to full. There’s a couple of break in between sets and some chill time before the DJ starts. In saying all that, I’d go back, it was quite enjoyable and the food was good for a bar.

Ohh, so this is where all the beautiful people hang out! Now excuse me while I leave and develop a complex over my looks. Yep, Cushion is full of gorgeous guys and gals, limited clothing and a whole lot of fake tan so if that’s not your cup of tea I suggest you hit up some other pub. However, during the day Cushion welcomes everyone with open arms with their easy-to-please menu and great drink specials. They have a few tables outside where you can soak up the sun, otherwise the interior is a bit too dark for my liking. The staff are friendly and fast and, I have noticed, mostly tourists due to the nearby hostel. In fact, a great deal of the clientele are from all corners of the world who have somehow already figured out where the beautiful people hang out.

Smack bang in the middle of all the action Cushion Lounge is a little bit of everything. During the day its a casual bistro style restaurant and at night or on the weekends it doubles as a bar and dance club. Cushion has regular meal deals for each night of the week, serving traditional Australian pub type meals the food is consistently pleasing and very affordable. Wednesday night is $ 5 pizza night my favourite is the Tandoori Chicken, perfect for lining your stomach before a few cold beers. On weekends Cushion books regular local dj’s and is always fun for a drink and a bit of a boogy. Playing predominantly commercial house the bar does tend to attract a fairly younger crowd, the majority of partiers aged 18 to mid twenties. The bar staff are great, always friendly and quick with drinks service. If you are feeling daring you may want to try the signature flaming cushion shot, a blend of spirits that is then lit on fire in front of your very eyes right before you drink it!

Cushion is one of the many, many bar/nightclubs in St Kilda. Is it worse than any other bar in St Kilda? No. Is it amazingly, spectaculary better than any of the other bars in St Kilda? No. They, like so many other places in the area, do the whole restaurant– into– a bar thing each night, I do really like that even as the DJ’s start spinning and the dance floor comes to life, there are plenty of lounge areas if you want to relax and drink the night away hanging with your friends. And I hear the super cheap weekday meals are pretty awesome too. Then there’s my favourite night here, the Rnb, House and 90’s night every Friday, which keeps me dancing… Okay fine, so I do like this place.
