A standard cheap Vietnamese restaurant that we have been to 3 – 4 times now. There’s no «wow» factor but, it’s still a good meal and worth checking out.

I like this place, it’s one of my regular Friday night spots for a quick, cheap bowl of Phở, usually around $ 8-$ 9.Service is typically quick and efficient and you never have to wait long for a feed. Naturally the menu is big and if you come for a meal it may take a while to wade through all the offerings while the waiters buzz around and over you in typical Vietnamese fashion but whatever you do order, I guarantee it will come out hot and delicious. On my last visit I had scallops with cashew nuts, more on the expensive side of the menu at $ 23,with this though came Chinese sausage,$ 3 and special fried rice,$ 5.All nicely served and the scallops presented in a shiny silver bowl.(I do like the little touches). Overall, a great place for locals and those wanting to see how the other half lives.:-).

Springvale, my hometown and the hometown of where I get my weekly, and sometimes, my daily fix of Vietnamese food. Let’s start with what I usually get and what I think about it: (1) Phở: Beef came out slight raw — just the way I like it. Just soak it in the delicious broth for a few second and the beef is slightly, but not dramatically, cooked. This way you can taste the flavor of the beef. The broth, I must say, it’s about your average Phở item — salty, taste like chicken, and indeed, taste as if there a lot of MSG. The noddles are fresh and slippery as you suck and slurp it in. To the Phở — 3 stars. (2) Rice Plates: Item comes with broken, small rice and some sort of salad on the side — such as, sour carrots and radish, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber on the side. Depending on the sort of meat you get, chicken or pork, the flavor and texture is a bit different. My top choice of meat for the rice plate is the pork, which is boldly marinated in soy and fish soy sauce. With the first bite, it hits your salty taste bud and you just reached heaven — delicious! Also, a good way to clean it down is with light soup, which is served with this item. Very light, clean and crisp — a prefect way to end the meal. 4 stars. SERVICE: Don’t expect to get amazing service and just go for the food! Like every other Springvale service, it’s pretty typical: servers give you menus, bring you water, take your order, bring you your food, and the bill. 3 stars. **OVERALL: Yes, Springvale — the homeland of Vietnamese food. Thanh Dat Restaurant bring you Vietnamese to your table and for what it’s worth, 3 stars.
