Manc-​HIPSTER or Man-​CHIPS-​ter? There’s not a hipster in sight at this new fish-​n-​chip/​burger bar in a quiet part of Southbank, so the name must be a pun on the staple menu item of chips, and the Manchester theme of the establishment. The theme is somewhat more generally English (i.e. posters of London), but extends to United and City apparel on the wall, and a logo reminiscent of Man Utd’s. Anyway, the food — I’ve tried the beef burger and the flake and chips. Both very tasty and fresh — fresh ingredients and oil in a new place helps, so I hope they can keep up the quality over time. Serving of chips is generous, even for the smallest size. An excellent high quality lunch option especially when craving fish and chips.
