There are a lot of cafes in this little corner of South Yarra and it seems like there is a new spot or a renewed spot every time I visit. Moose Bar and Café has been operated by the same team for at least three years pre-dating basically every other place in the area, including Two Birds. They’ve got to be doing *something* right then, right? While the Moose décor isn’t as trendy as Two Birds just across the way, their strong points are that their dishes are on average a bit cheaper than their more popular competition. Also, they have a really amazing core staff lead by Heather at the morning till and Chris making the coffees and teas inside. They are super friendly and remember the names and favorite orders of their regular customers. Even after I had been gone for a couple months when I came back to the area for a visit Heather hadn’t missed a beat. There are wraps and sandwiches in turkish rolls, fresh-made pasta dishes, breakfast muffins, and pastries in the fridge display but they also have a pretty great menu and will whip up eggs and bacon or other breakfast goodies if that’s your flavor. They also have burgers, soup specials, fritattas and other savory lunchtime goodies. They have a pretty solid menu, a wide variety of choices and even a happy hour on Friday arvos. This is the friendliest café you will find in this area, seriously, check them out.
