Pretty awesome. I had the naked spicy beef burger. The sauce was delicious there were two, a creamy Harissa and a sweet tomato type sauce. They were so generous with the salad, it wasn’t just a burger wrapped in a leaf, it was a juicy burger sitting on a full salad, quinoa, slaw, jalapeño tomatoes. The tomato was fresh and tasty. That to me is a big sign the restaurant cares about their food… When the tomatoes have full flavour and don’t taste old. I only dinged them a star because the slaw was a bit bitter, that might be a matter of preference though, I like mine marinated. The staff was cool and the atmosphere was nice and casual. The had a lot of other nice sounding things on the menu. I’d recommend it.

Only ordered delivery, two cheeseburgers and fries, through deliveroo. But wanted to note that the burgers were mega yummy and healthy tasting, one of the best in Prahran for sure, and I’m an aspiring burger snob. Will have to actually visit though to give a better review of this place, which I’ll likely do one day soon.

I’ve been here twice now, and left disappointed both times. Unfortunately, it relates to their main business — the burgers. The patties certainly aren’t as fresh as you’d get at the top burger places in Melbourne. Both times I have felt so full after eating one of the regular burgers, with that patties being extremely chewy(unlike the melting sensation you get with the great burgers) and rather sloppy. This may sound fussy — but for the price you pay it totally isn’t up to scratch in my opinion. The vibe of the place however is really cool, and its situated nicely in the middle of South Yarra which is always a bit of fun. And the chips were actually alright, a definite plus.

Best burgers, atmosphere is good but not so good that you would ever have to wait for a table. Glad to have this as my local

Average at best. Buns are sweet, but sloppily put together. Contrary to what is written on the menu, the meat was not pink, it tastes old and congealed, more like a frozen meat pattie. Nacho chips are a great idea which was not executed well at all. Too much guacamole which was not evenly distributed. Similarly the sour cream was dolloped all on one side… And there wasn’t enough of it. Wait time was far too long given the place was only half full when we visited. Staff were bordering on rude when we asked a question about the menu. Also when we asked for the burger to be cut in half when served we were told that we would be supplied with cutlery to do it ourselves — the staff wouldn’t do it because of «contamination issues»… Yet when the bun came out there was a fingerprint on top! Won’t be visiting again.

Hello Sam in South Yarra is simply awesome and have produced the goods to make it into my top 5 burger joints in Melbourne. I have now been to Hello Sam 3 times and on each visit I am liking them more and more. Perfectly cooked medium beef patties on a super soft brioche bun that just melts in your mouth. Something I haven’t had anywhere else is ‘cheddar melt’ and WOWEE it is something else, I don’t know where this stuff has come from, but it makes a huge difference and really enhances the whole burger experience. If Hello Sam isn’t already on your burger list, add it today, — you will not regret it! For the gluten free people, they also offer gluten free buns which is a great added bonus.

Second best burger for me that’s on Chapel, behind Parlour, but it’s still great. The beef burger is cooked just right. It’s the way a burger should be. Also nacho chips and onion rings are good as well.

If you tried Hello Sam early try them again. They have made some amazing changes. Their naked burgers are now a bowl with quinoa, coleslaw and salad. They also now have double and triple burgers. I also love their mean bean burger and the mushroomer. Their fries are incredible too. Also they do a sensational coffee for a burger bar which is now very popular in the mornings! They can do almond milk if you like Plus some of the best friendly service you will come across!

Good friendly service. Food was served quick and was cooked well. Good choice of beef, lamb and chicken burgers with one fish option. Crispy chips and onion rings cooked to perfection. Good choice of soft drinks along with a few beers. Price for two of us was a pricey $ 37 for: two burgers, one large chips, one onion rings and one soft drink. Would definitely return to try another burger.

Give me all the burgers then give me a few more! I fricken love burgers, there is nothing like ooozzyyy dripping cheese, finger licking sauce, some cripsy bacon smacked on a slightly pink peice of meat with a side of onion rings dipped in garlic aioli. Top that off with an ice cold cider & I am in my happy place. Hello Sam gave me all I needed & I will be back for more more more. Fantastic outside eating space, friendly smiling staff & cold stream cider. Oh wait & the amazing burgers! Price wise I got all the added extras on my burger so it wasn’t the cheapest meal for me but it was totally worth it & still only about $ 18 for the burger. Which I have absolutely no issue in paying as wow my burger was delish. Get down to chapel street & give these guys some love, you will thank me for it.

I was at Hello Sam on a quiet Saturday night(no doubt an anomaly due to it being right after new Years) and found the service pleasant and the burgers tasty. I was really hungry and the burgers came out quickly which might have helped. The burgers were of a quality you would expect for $ 10, but the chips were absolutely delicious(with aioli of course). The waiter was super friendly and attentive, despite one guy who kept saying ‘Hi Sam’ to him(I’m sure he’s NEVER heard that before). If you’re on the Richmond end of Chapel St would recommend stopping by if you’re in the mood for burgers, although I would imagine the service levels would slip in busier times.

Tried out this new burger place on Chapel Street with the husband over the Xmas period. It wasn’t overly busy when we were there, so service was quite quick & friendly. There are lots of tables out on the street(nice in the sunshine) and a few inside too. On this visit I had the Too Cheesy and the husband had the Sammy Swiss(chicken schnitzel) plus we had a serve of onion rings to share. Neither of us were particularly impressed with our burgers. The buns aren’t overly great to be honest and that is really one of the big keys to a great burger. This is particularly disappointing as they are already on to their second new bun supplier, so I hate to think what the original ones were like as these ones aren’t too good either. My beef burger was lacking flavour and I found the patty to be a little bit tough to be honest. The chicken schnitzel one came with coleslaw and Swiss cheese — some of the husband’s favourite things — but he definitely wasn’t raving about it either. As a saving grace, the side of onion rings that we shared were quite tasty and they serve organic sodas and a few beers and wines too. Plus the wet wipe hand towel that comes on the side of your plate is handy for cleaning up greasy hands at the end of your meal. Overall we’ve had much better burgers elsewhere so I don’t think we will be back anytime soon.

The Battle of The Burger continues on Chapel Street. I went to Hello Sam on a busy sunny Friday afternoon and ordered the lot with a extra patty as well as chips. While it did take nearly half an hour I thought that was reasonable given it was nearly a full house. The staff also apologized for the wait which wasn’t necessary but appreciated. The burger was good although I wouldn’t recommend ordering the extra patty as it’s too hard to eat(in public). The chips were a little cool but other than that it was a positive experience. The packaged moist towel is an excellent idea, more burger joints should do that!
