I always enjoy visiting this bar. Staff are nice. My tip is that having a beer tasting paddle allows you to experience a range of beers, without consuming too much. The bar regularly change their beers on taps, so you can revisit fairly regularly and still have new beer experiences

With friendly staff, affordable food and a great location this place makes for a great place to stop for a quick snack and beer(or three). We came to Tomahawk after what seemed like a bit of a hike up and down the South Bank area, it was late afternoon and we were hungry. The Pork and Fennel Meatball on Damper Sandwich and the Cajun Chicken with Corn Salsa Tortilla were ordered. Paired with a Fragrant beer(the name of which i can’t remember) and the number 1 Cider on tap, it made for the perfect tie-me-over until dinner time would be upon us. Thanks Tomahawk, second visit just as good as the first.

We visited Tomahawk to check out their wide selection of craft beers. Being a Sunday, my partner(a beer«connoisseur») opted for the tasting paddle, and chose five beers after chatting to the bar person. All five beers were fantastic. We also tried the empanadas(a special on Sundays), and whilst they were tiny they were good — and the salsa they came with was amazing! If you are a fan of craft beers — then Tomahawk is definitely worth the visit. As with all good craft beer bars, don’t be afraid to ask for a taste of something on tap before you commit to a pot/pint/etc. The staff are also very knowledgeable on the beers and happy to discuss. The food is also great to pair with the beers, but can be quite rich and for me are more something I’d order to accompany the beers, rather than settling in for a full meal; but definitely worth trying.

Amazing! Made it there for Sunday afternoon lunch and it was nothing short of awesome. The food quality and portion sizes were incredible! We had lovely service from the staff there too. Décor is nice, great place for food or even just an afternoon drink. Would definitely recommend and visit again! :) Highly recommend trying the ribs! The group I was with didn’t really like the fact that you could only order ‘organic coke’ so that could be an issue for some, otherwise stick to the beers and ciders! lol

We stopped by for a few rounds after dinner down the road and this place is a beer lovers gem! Knowledgeable staff, great brews, good service and comparable pricing. I probably wouldn’t have called my glass a ‘large’ as I’m from Melbourne and we choose a pot or a pint, but it was big enough :) I preferred #2 on the board.

Great place. It’s grey street so the atmosphere might not be all there but I have not found a better rotating tap list in this part of the world. I’m having flashbacks to the PNW. And lovin it!

I love craft beer, that’s why I went to tomahawk. In my opinion it was okay. The beers on tap were okay, nothing, in my taste, was outstanding. In saying that we all have different tastes when it comes to beer. The guy who served me was a bit rude and it seemed if I didn’t have the same taste as him, my opinion didn’t count. The only thing we agreed on was the bacon beer. It was awesome! And he was vegetarian. Shows how good the beer was. Although at $ 28 for 500ml it should be good! I’m not in any rush to go back there. Especially when there are other bars that are similar but«cooler»

This wouldn’t be my pick of dinner/drink venues, but it was a friend’s birthday. Very hipster, very dimly lit(too dim for my liking — I like to see what I’m eating). Probably would have liked it better during the day? Anyway, absolutely nothing in terms of beverages on display was familiar. Don’t get me wrong, I like a bit of «ohh I wonder what that is?!», but this was more like«I have no idea what on earth anything even is». So where do I start? The girl at the bar picked up on my sense of WTF and asked me what I normally like to drink. She recommended me the pale ale on Tap 2 as my first drink. I heeded her advice and proceeded to enjoy a very delicious, light and slightly floral(IMO) ale. I think what upset me was that I’d looked at the reviews and photos on Unilocal prior to going, and had made up my mind to have the lamb ribs… Which weren’t on the menu! :(So I struggled in my decision-making as to what my second option would have to be. I ordered the meatballs and my hubby ordered the pork belly burger. Both were tasty and well-presented. Didn’t think the waitstaff were overly friendly though, and I still don’t understand«hipster» style as a uniform(but that’s just me). If you love craft beer, especially the heavier stouts and porters, etc then this is the place for you.

The menu here is simple with clearly defined items. No time for mucking about here. There’s a few interesting twists in that nearly all the food items contain beer! The food is very reasonably priced too with snacks and bites starting from $ 7. The drink range is vast. As the only craft beer bar in South Bank, it’s a really refreshing change from the cocktail-orientated and wine bars surrounding it. And the pubs. Drinks here aren’t cheap but you are paying for craft beer. There’s a pretty good range of drinks so suit most budgets though. We ordered the popcorn chicken which seems to be a crowd favourite, however I found the chicken overly salty and the caramel sauce far too thick and sweet. And I’ve had this twice now. The fish chip butty was excellent and I would happily order that again! Excellent value at $ 10! Easily my new favourite place for late afternoon/weekend beers and food.

Great selection of beers and ciders along with great food! I went with a big group and we all got different stuff off the menu, everyone loved their meal and was taking bites from others at the table! I think we literally got everything off the menu and everyone was happy. A few favorites were the ribs, popcorn chicken and crisps. Definitely a great place to go to and I would highly recommend it!

The Tasmanian inside me was in for a good time once we discovered Tomahawk Bar. Willie Smith cider is my absolute favorite & I’ve never seen it served anywhere in Brisbane before. While the price tag is pretty high($ 20 a bottle!) I’ve still paid it. 3 times now. The food at this place is ace! Every dish is busting with flavor & the servings are quite generous making most dishes excellent for sharing. The baked Camembert is the stuff of dreams(and a heart attack waiting to happen). It has to be tasted to believed. I have to admit there was one thing that irked me though. We were about to ask for some plates in order to make sharing a little easier but before I could even finish my question the waiter said«plates are too mainstream, we don’t have anything». I thought he was joking. Then he walked away. If you can anticipate a customers question before they have finished asking it then it is a safe bet that it has been asked numerous times before… So cut the too cool for school act and get some gosh darn plates! All in all though this place is great. I’d advise going with a bunch of pals on a lazy afternoon. This place gets packed and seats are limited during peak evening times. And maybe bring a few paper plates along with you too.
