Absolutely the best indian restaurant I have ever been to. Every single thing in the menu tastes like heaven. Now I live in New York and still could not find a biryani as good as Gandhi’s. I love you guys.

Nice little restaurant on the Southbank entertainment area in Brisbane, whilst they do not have an extensive menu they are well equipped for the quick lunch with specials(curry, rice, salad & pappadams) starting from $ 10.95. If you want something more for sharing they have that as well. A reasonable selection of drinks but I thought the best bit was the service, nice & accommodating staff. I would definitely go back there the next time I am in Brisbane.

My wife enjoyed the vindaloo but my dal makhani was just ok. I would avoid the naan bread entirely as it was actually more like a pizza style bread, which is very disappointing if you are expecting naan. When you add the prices to the unmemorable meal I would probably not go back.

Fairly average curries and a little more expensive than other Indian restaurants. If you’re in the area and looking for Indian food then go five minutes out of your way to one of west end’s better offerings. Don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with this place, it’s just a bit of a bland experience overall.

Good food. Little expensive for the service size. Nice atmosphere. Excellent service personnel. Option of takeaway if you don’t want to eat in.

For a restaurant in such a great location, you would expect Gandhi Curry house knock your socks off. Unfortunately, the place is simply OK, but not a very memorable restaurant. I have been here once before and do not intended on going there again since I know I can get better Indian at a better price. Having said that, it is it the only Indian restaurant in South Bank so if you have curry cravings, I would not disregard it. I came here on a very quiet night with a friend. We ordered one curry and naan to share and although I can not remember the particular cost, I remember being taken back by the price. In hindsight, the cost of renting for a restaurant in South Bank can’t be cheap so that justifies why they charge so much. The curry was nice but not the best I have ever tried, the naan on th other hand was not good– It was very hard not at all like the fluffy naans I am used to receiving at my local Indian restaurant. Judging from the other reviewers’ experience, maybe mine was just badly cooked that night. I can not say too much about the service as I was only at the restaurant for a short while(we pretty much ate our food and left), it was not the most vigilant service though, the waitress looked very bored. Gandhi Curry house is not a bad Indian restaurant, it gets a 3⁄5 from me because neither bad nor great.

It’s tough being a little indian restaurant, I mean you have to compete with some greats (Punjabi Palace, Sitar or Indian Mehfil to name a few.) But I think this little curry house can hold it’s own. I went here for a birthday dinner and was chuffed with the range of dishes being brought out. The Meat samosas were dee-licious, just the right amount of chilli and a perfect starter, the Lamb Korma was fragrant and rich but the Garlic naan was my favourite of the night, buttery light and with a palatable garlic flavour… it went all too quickly for my liking. The service was OK but nothing to write home about. The only gripe I have about this place is the price, The meal was good but I know I could find better value indian fair elsewhere.

When choosing a place to eat at Southbank, Gandhi Curry House wouldn’t be my first pick. Unfortunately, it’s the only Indian there and whilst most restaurants along the Little Stanley Street strip are on the pricier side of dining, for what it is, Ghandi Curry House isn’t good value. Between three of us, we ordered two meat curries and one vegetarian, rice for three, and two naans and the cost worked out to around $ 30 a head. Whilst an expensive feed of Indian, the curries were good and delivered to our table quickly. Otherwise, service left a bit to be desired – staff could have been more attentive as they took a long time to retrieve the payment and deliver our change. All in all, nothing special, but if you find yourself at South Bank really craving a curry, Gandhi Curry House will satiate the taste buds. Note: evening closing time depends on amount of business.
